Hi guys, I’ve been breaking my head trying to get this to work… So I am on a data only contact, and recently changed to an iPhone but I cannot activate iMessage or FaceTime, and I’m unable to receive international sms or calls. Had a person from the uk try to contact me but they couldn’t on their side and nothing came through on my phone.

I had a look at a previous thread where you need to load some airtime and try again, but did that and still doesn’t work. I’ve been to the istore and they say that I need to activate “international calling” so I went to the MTN store (system offline) and they advised me to dial *135# and activate roaming or something along those line. Problem is everytome I try this I get an error that I should try again in 15 mins.

Anyone know what’s happening here?

When I click my number, it gives a prompt to activate. I click ok but it keeps loading as shown. Tried restarting, hard reset etc.

I had the same issue. My iMessage wouldn’t reactivate after I reloaded my phone. I tried every suggestion under the sun and not even a 2 hour support call to apple could fix it. I spend probably R100 on international sms’s for each time it sends the iMessage activation “sms”.

Even upgraded from 13 to 14pro and it still didn’t activate on the new phone.

Tested activation from a MTN prepaid sim in the same phone and it worked immediately.

I initially left iMessage disabled for 48hours as apple suggested before trying again but still never activated. ..

In the end i left it for about 2 weeks in a disabled state and it magically activated after that.

My bet it’s probable apple’s side.

Yeah same experience with my sim in a new iPhone too. Been to the Apple Store and MTN numerous times but still no one knows why so I gave up with this issue lol. It still hasn’t activated and it’s been weeks, I left it enabled though so I’ll keep it disabled and hope for the best.

Tried it and it did not work for me. I can confirm that when I try and activate my iMessage, I get charged for the message to +447786205094. I have tried all the solutions online, and I even contacted Apple/MTN, both said there should be nothing wrong. I wonder if it could be related to my number being a ported number from vodacom. I have tried a differnet MTN sim, and it activated in minutes (nothing wrong with my phone).
