Hi guys,

Im quite stuck at the moment. Telkom adsl checker verifys my linespeed is 2mbps but my line is still syncing at 1mbps. I have restarted the router but to no avail.

Now, I know you guys have been phoning 10210 to get them to reset the port but my problem is, I cant even phone them as I dont have a phone and my cells airtime gets eaten alive.

The online report system is just for faults plus there is nowhere there to specify that I want a port reset.

Is there not another way of contacting telkom?Perhaps there's a telkom techie around here much like the mweb guy.

PS: Isp is mweb uncapped.

Regards

Disconnect your modem from the line for 10 minutes.

Sometimes a port reset wont kill the session and you'll be put back on the same session, forcing the reset by timing it out will make sure everything is happy.

Had the same thing after calling and confirming it was 2mb on my modem.

Hmm, that seems a hell of a lot easier than phoning telkom, is that guarenteed to work?

It might. I'm not sure, I tried to do it like that. It didn't work, so I called and noticed the line sync increase - the guy reset my port, but I noticed I was still getting a max of about 118k/s, knowing that my account was not limited I just forced the timeout. After reconnecting the line was at the correct speed.

I've been told to do the same thing in the past when my DSLAM/exchange goes full retard on some Friday nights.

Cool, thanks for the info. I guess its worth a try before phoning.
