Where's all the student developers on the forum?
Just for clarification, full time students at university under 25 :p

At this time on a Friday night? Getting drunk somewhere.

lol. Lion has a point though...all the devs here are "oldish".

Also...coding while wasted is an interesting experience too...or even better trying to debug

Coding my ass off to submit before the deadline.

Okay I haven't given a reason for this thread but here it is /flame suit on

I'm a Microsoft Student Partner, so I get a lot of stuff to give away to student trouble is when students hear you have to do a little work for it they run away. The biggest problem I found is that so many students are lazy and the other thing is most universities don't have online groups specific to IT for students to engage so I thought let me try myBB to find some passionate students.

So if you students have Facebook groups you'll belong to or some other online community, post the link here.

Funny to note that I've actually had a drink.

I tried reaching out to Comp Sci students at UKZN Westville campus, reply I got was "dev bug hasn't bitten me". Also you guys need a better Facebook group.

We're oldish by definition - we're on a forum, rather than The Twitter, or doing The Snapchat.

... Crap, I just passed 1000 posts...

I'm actually Comp Eng at Howard. Doubt you'll find many dev happy people on my side either. We're all too screwed by work.

5 published apps will get you this laptop bag, the apps can be Windows, Windows Phone or Universal. Apps can be made with AppStudio, they can't be 1 or 2 page apps or static.

If you want to win a paid internship for the holidays at Microsoft SA, visit this link.

Claim your free dev account through Dreamspark
DVLUP - Windows development rewards program for Steam/Windows/Xbox vouchers etc.

I'm friends with some extremely capable student devs. Not a single one of them will be interested in winning a laptop bag. And I highly doubt they would be willing to drop everything and complete those time consuming Microsoft-centric challenges, just for the chance of an internship. They're already earning money making apps and websites for companies, and most have dreams that they want to follow with their own start-ups in the near future.

The MSP program is more applicable to them and they should apply for that since there's a lot more resources available.

Microsoft also helps start-ups through Bizspark

Student dev here. Though do I qualify as one if have failed my first year courses twice (currently 3rd year) and that my current courses have nothing to do with computer science?

(Un)Fortunately I will never experience that.

Yup, as long as you're in university. This is not only for Comp Sci students, Information Systems/Informatics can also apply. In fact for the prizes, as long as you make those apps you can have the prizes.

BizSpark is an awesome gesture on MS's part, but the time limitation means that serious students aren't going to sign up until they're ready to hit the ground running.
