Hi Guys,

Looking to get some advice on what path to take. I'm a 20year old working as an Jnr. Dev/Intern at a software development firm but I'm studing Politics.. Long story short. I finish my degree this year, graduating next year and want to jump right back in and studying towards a degree in IT(Dev side). Currently learning SQL,C#,some Javascript and VB . Just got my first MS Certification but want a degree and not a bunch of Certificates. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Could do a BSc Computer Science, quite intense algorithms and datastructure courses at wits. Very cool!

I'm busy studying BSc Computer Science at UNISA and its awesome. Work load is not bad.

Recommended it if you can study on your own and don't want to waste whole days at University.

How long does the UNISA course take when taken Part-Time? Looking to get my Honours in it aswell a little later on

All depends on how quickly (or slowly) you go through the modules. First level stuff can be done quite quickly (i.e. more per year), third level obviously less so as the workload increases. Also depends on how much experience you have (if any because it makes the work easier if you know what's going on already) and what kind of results you're aiming for. Technically you could do it in three years (one level per year) but I don't believe they recommend (or allow) that as you'd be doing ~14 subjects first year, and ~8 each of the subsequent two.

On a personal note, I did my BSc in six years: primarily because I wanted top results but also a life at the same time. As an aside, when I did mine almost all modules were year modules (now they're mostly semester modules). I do know guys on this forum have done it quicker.
