Studying - Information Systems (Software Development) at CTI

You need to attend college daily inorder to book exams and test and so on, also the books explain the work well but for troubleshooting code and so on it helps to have an instructor at your disposal. Most people will tell you how useless some of the instructors are but in my case my instructor knows his stuff(just got his hons through the Cti system).

I must also add that the new instructor on our campus for hardware knows less than nothing...the MLM concept works for me but sucks for my friends in hardware

just to confirm
cti is still crap
i got a call very recently of people who knew i was in CTI, and asked if i also experienced all the problems that they are experiencing
they said they should have phoned me earlier , im very sad that they didn't

I both studied at CTI and worked as a lecturer.
Just a few points, as other people have said just about everything:

--Them finding you a job is questionable. They say they have a 90+% placement rate. It's rubbish, I have personally witnessed WAY more than 10% of students not getting a job.

--The material is outdated. The same could be said about most places though.

--For the most part, you are paying for a glorified creche experience. While myself and a few other lecturers really did try out best to help the students, the majority are just there to tell you to keep quiet. Plus, with the way the halls work, it's impossible to have formal lectures, so even if we did want to have full on sessions it was difficult.

--I did the second year there (the project management year) and have still not received any certificate from that(years later)

--Today one of my past students phoned. They said one of the students finished off the full 3 year BSc degree and then went to apply for a job. The place they applied for did some digging and it turns out CTI has no affilliation with Cambridge - which they claim there certifications are through. Looks like there are legal proceedings coming from this.

--You are getting the equivelent of going to Unisa or just writing the Microsoft certifications. So why not just do those? All the materials are free(for the latter) and you just pay for exams.

--One positive thing about it is that the courses do actually have alot of practical in them, so when you get out you have actually done work in what you studied. BUT the negative side of this (and where uni shines) is that you HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. If you are asked to make a site/program that does x,y, and z, you will be skrewed because you only know exactly what you were spoonfed.

I agree 100%...noticed a few of my campus's acreditations are also out of data. I can confirm the partnership with Heriot Watt. Their director of international affairs confirmed this in an email last week.
