I have a budget of around 10k a year that I allow myself to study new things. I've been in the IT industry for a decade now, and have hit a wall with what I want to study as most of it is self-taught.

Can I do a unisa-something-something for that budget? maybe a degree?

Personally, I would wait to see what happens with the cr@p at varsities right now. You might just be throwing your money into a bottomless pit.

What? That makes no sense.

Prescribed and regulated coursework is prescribed and regulated coursework. Strikes don't change what's being taught and how it's taught, and it's relevance in your chosen degree.

Investing in your education is never throwing money down a bottomless pit.

Have you seen what is happening at all SA universities? It wont surprise me if UNISA will be the only place to get your degree in SA. I don't see them closing down anytime soon with the amount of new applications they have received.

Try certification. Get OCA, OCP, Orcale Master. Money will be better spent.

You have until 21st to apply at UNISA for 2017. R10K is enough p.a. to do a BSc in 5 years. First year is always cheaper and less stress, only towards the end is it expensive and time consuming.

I just completed my BSc Informatics this semester at UNISA.

UNISA has been the quietest of them all this semester. As a UNISA student I'm probably the least affected in this country.

I think you will be a bit over that I budgeted around R12000 per year a few years ago. The books add up to quite a bit on their own.

But you are not far off.
