Stuffed S4 (GT-I9500) - Imei Changed

Hi Guys,

I made an innocent mistake last week friday that resulted in my phone not booting anymore,It just showed me a dead android with a red triangle - I tried for the first time using odin and didn't really know what i was doing - anyways I updated the firmware and my phone's imei changed to 450000000/01 and it wouldnt allow me to connect to the MTN network - I brought it to work and one my colleagues said he knows how to fix it and he tried but it didn't work.

long story short - I took it to a cellphone shop locally and they fixed it for R200 , but now the Imei is not what is on the back of the phone and my software update doesn't work.

is my phone now illegally connected to the MTN network and can i change it back to my original Imei, I dont want to have any illegal connection to the network

If there is anyone willing to help me fix it , I honestly k*ked this one up.
 
Jut to add , In case anyone is wondering, I have been reading a few threads and it seems like everyone wants to know if the phone was stolen or blacklisted - None of that in this situation. I purely stuffed up my phone.

so this is my original phone - I took it out on contract with MTN...
 
I had this on my S3 when I put on a custom rom that was corrupted. Just download a standard S4 rom from Sammobile and flash that - should sort out the problem.

It should, but the OP needs to note that he may have lost his efs folder, so the device may not work properly again.
 
If the phone connects to the network, they have changed the IMEI at the shop... If not, flash another official ROM and/or radio.

Had that issue on a phone I was going back to stock with last night
 
Yes they changed the imei at the shop because i recall reading about it before giving them the phone, I remember my (wrong) imei was 4500000000/01 and when it came back from the shop it was a different number 355xxxx something
 
should i even attempt to fix it or just get a new phone,

Im not comfortable to walk around with my own phone that has just been made illegal ( so to speak )

Oh... The wrong radio caused the 4500.... IMEI. Does the 35 IMEI match the IMEI under the battery?
 
it matches the first couple of characters

Imei on the back of the phone 356xxx
imei on phone 355xxx
 
Try and take it back, or just live with it. Next time just be more careful when flashing roms.
 
Im more interested if i will be in k*k by using a different Imei no?
