Stupid question on PSU

..............look at the back of the graphics card. See plug. Take spare power plug from PSU and insert it into plug ( will only fit one way unless you force it :D )

Turn on PC. Problem solved.

I think mainly the AGP ones need the power from another source as the PCIx bus carries more power than AGP. I could be wrong.

Only the AGP 6600GT cards do............as they can't pull enough power from the AGP socket.

That is surprising. The connector usually looks the same as the one for the stiffy drive and tend to be on the top right hand corner of the card when looking at the side of the card with the fan etc. Can you maybe please post the exact card make and model?

Nope - PCIe cards (depending on the card obviously) also needs additional power.

My Geforce 7800GTs each have a 6 pin PCIe power connector. My 500W Antec ATX 2.0 power supply has (fortunately) 2 of these connectors hard wired, although you get adapter cables with the standard molex connector on it with the cards.

Yippee, graphics card sorted out, thanx guys.

When I got home yesterday I reconnected all my hardware and made it neater. Polished it a bit with Mr Min NOOOOt. Now I just have about another 10000 programs to sort out.
