Copies of Service Pack 3 integrated into Windows XP operating systems on Windows Vista or on Windows Server 2008 platforms no longer accept the original product key, or any other product key for that matter. Microsoft has watched this issue survive into the RTM build of SP3, and even released the service pack to the general public without providing a resolve.
Oh ffs. Now I'm stuck with half an XP install that I can't finish. I guess I'll have to hunt for an old XP CD now and install SP3 manually.:(

Looks like Vista is coming back from the grave to haunt me...even though I just formatted it away.

Ooh. What a bummer. Show you that M$ cannot even release a service pack without throwing a spanner in the works :D

What I did was skip the key part and continue installing, then call Microsoft for a new key.

(but I found a good crack that does not need a key so I can do a new install more often now)

OK. Made a new SP3 CD this time on an XP box and now it works. Never new that the host OS has such an influence on nlite....guess one learns something new every day.
