Vodacom gives you 2 FREE SMSs every week to SMS any 9 letters (A-Z) to *****. You can win R1 million, airtime &lots more. For more info call *** *** ****

I just got this SMS on my new Voda contract. There is no opt out option. Where do I opt out and to who do I complain that there is no opt out?

what's with these vodacom competitions ???????
Speak to vodacom. I guess.

I did (111) and after a struggle, i got someone that could give me the optout details. Obviously they did not have it anywhere as a option on their automated call answering...

I sent them this e-mail:

Hi Vodacom Customer Care, this morning I got a SMS stating the following:

"Vodacom gives you 2 FREE SMSs every week to SMS any 9 letters (A-Z) to ***** You can win R1 million, airtime & lots more. For more info call *** *** ****"

I have taken myself off from receiving these SMSs, but why doesnt the SMS have a opt out where I can sms "STOP" to some 32 XXX Number? Isn't this in contravention of the Telecommunications Act?

Feedback would be appreciated before I considerer logging a complaint with ICASA and/or ASA (Advertising Standard Authority).

Regards,

*****

Anyway, apparently its something to do with the Yebo-Millionairs competition.

At a guess, replying to the SMS with the word STOP might produce the desired effect, but maybe wait for confirmation on that from Vodacom.

That is a competition,1st 2 sms's you sent is free, there after its R1 per sms,and chance to win a million rand
