I'm looking to buy an android device for R1500 or less. I realize this is a low amount so I don't exactly expect a premium device. The main things I'm looking for are battery life (good enough for only 1 charge a day) , performance (preferably quad core) and at least a 4" screen size. I've already looked up these devices :
Huawei Y560
Hisense Glory U602
Vodacom Smart Grand
Vodacom Smart 4 Turbo

Any other suggestions?

*The Huawei is my most likely choice

Damn how did I miss this phone.... It's a killer deal..... I will definitely read up on it... The only setback is the Android version... Hopefully it will receive a Lollipop update

Very nice specs for the price. I hope the build quality is good.
Just the sort of phone for those of us with parents who can't afford a R3000 to R5000 mid range phone.

Those are 2 great phones for the price, especially the M2 Note. Unfortunately it's higher than my budget. I need to get me a laptop as well that's why I don't really care as much about the phone...

The Wileyfox runs Cyanogen so it will get you Lollipop and maybe even Android 6 in the future.

That's exactly why I'll never get a cheap Samsung phone.

@AstroTurf.. That price is way too low to even be a half decent cheap phone

At the end of the day. The smartphone will be (depending on you) your most used, important digital device.
You can go expensive on it. or be like meh, can get a cheap one.
But if you are going to spend hours and hours on it daily, its worth considering more expensive options.

Keep us posted hope it's delicate enough for you guys.
Yea will do. It's mostly so my daughter can use her furby and play some games on it. I'll maybe even give her a sim card so her grand parents and such can call her. Replacement for her S plus.

There should be an official thread or forum for this, people who can't afford anything over their budget and is looking for something at least half decent but affordable. Where members can give detailed reviews on those devices. I'd be happy to review the phone I'll eventually choose.

*Correct me if it already exists.
