I'm looking to get more performance out of mine while not having to sell my house to do it :p
Do you guys have any ideas on what can be done and good performance shops near kempton?
So far im looking to gas flow the head and to chip it but not sure yet where to do it, don't want it too look like a pavement special afterwards

thanks in advance:D

You mean heads, boxer engine has more than one head ;) :D

Maybe get onto a local subaru forum and ask around, try and find out which gives the best bang for buck with the least work (probably chipping) before you start opening the engine up.

Also get hold of Fazda here he's a subaru nut and could probably point you in the right direction.

Put on a bigger wing ...
paint GT strips on it ...
Should have bought the red one, everyone knows a red car is faster ... :p

Dude, you from Brakpan ?

Shove a turbo inside and put red bull in the petrol tank, it'll fly.

Not many guys in the country I would trust with a boxer motor. If its not done right, you gona end up stuffing bearings. $$$$

JouPa, how much more power do you want ?

Remap + full free flow exhaust is about as much as you can do and that won't get you more than 15kw.
Next up you're looking at cams + heads + upping compression.
Then ofcourse you can consider putting a turbo+intercooler on the motor.

I found an article on the web a few years back (I owned a 2.5RS) where a guy took his 2.5RS, did cams, heads, pistons and blueprinted the engine. Ended up with around 165BHP at the wheels.
Your stock 2.5RS does around 75KW at the wheels; with all this work the guy managed to get around 120KW ATW.

Then I also knew this guy (in the subaru club) that turbo'd his 2.5RS. It cost him a lot of money to get it done reliably (R50k I believe).

Anyways, If I can give you good advice: if you're looking for marginal improvements, go the remap + exhaust route.
If you're the adventurous type with a deep pocket, go the engine/turbo route.

Otherwise, save yourself a lot of money (in the long run) and pain: sell it and buy a WRX :D

The SOCSA guys will give you the same advice :D

thanks for the input guys

did some more research and looks like im gonna upgrade the car not just parts :)

I went down this route....The RS will never be a robot racer, it's just not built for it.
You are not going to get much more out of the engine, not unless you rebuild it completely, new heads, new cams, new valves .etc. but the cost to the performance gain is terrible.
Do an intake, the exhaust and leave it.

but....it can be setup to handle like a monster. I had fully-adjustable coil-overs and anti-sway bars put on. Combine that with semi-slicks and it will corner like you won't believe. Lots of fun on a track.

But if you want power...sell the RS and get an STI (which is what I did)
