Been trying to get a look at a Subaru Forester a weekend and wet weather car. I completed the form on the website and a week goes by with no call from the dealership.
So on i call them, guy takes my details, and says he has new stock coming on Tuesday last week and he would call me then to have a look. I call yesterday, he is not available but left a message and he will call back. Still nothing!
Called BMW about X3 they bringing one around this afternoon for test drive.
Problem is i don't want to buy an X3 it was just for comparison sake.

Anyone here have experience with them?

I have had bad service from subaru up here in gauteng as well.
My friend tried pretty hard to get a test drive with no returned phone calls etc.
When he was at the dealership they had no models, then only 1 sales guy so he couldnt do a test drive etc etc.

He ended up buying an S3..

Have forwarded this link to Head Office, so that they can possibly respond.

Pity both of you guys are so far away from me! :(

Just some advice, if you want a test drive, rather go directly to the dealership or phone them and book one, as filling in a form on the net isn't the fastest way to get any response. I always respond immediately, but that is me, and other sales guys may not be the same!

Sal, how many people waste dealership's time with "bring me an x3" when "i don't want to buy an x3"?

Do you really think these sales people, whom most have years of experience, cannot see a time waster coming a mile away?

You don't think they can sort potential clients on the spot? Why not go to dealership, like a serious buyer, and engage the people where the product is stored.

What do you expect them do do for you over the internet. Mail you a test drive?

I agree with much of what you say, but we respond to every internet request as soon as we can. 99.99% of the internet requests are people wanting brochures, which they could easily get if they came in to the dealership. I DID deliver a Forester to Secunda 2 months ago, after an internet request, so there are good guys out there! :D

we do everything else online, so why cant we book test drives too?
i have done this already, and got a call back the next day - they didnt have a car available at the time but could arrange for one
it saved me time and money having to go into the dealership, speaking to someone that thinks you there just for a joyride...

You can book a test drive, but isn't it easier to actually interact with a human being occasionally? At least you know that you have spoken to a real person and the chance of a response is somewhat better.

see above

Not sure what you mean.

I realise that it saved you time and money by not going to the dealership, but why not pick up the phone? At that point you are assured of actually talking to a human being, as well as hopefully having a few questions answered.

As for the test drive, unfortunately, it might be necessary to leave the PC behind...

Test drives done on a PC sucks.

Done one with a Whieee-Dabbeljoe a while ago... just is not the same as a real test drive.

I was actually considering doing the odd Michelin Restaurant on my PC as well, but the food was not quite up to spec on the net...looked great, but smelt and tasted of nothing...;)

Um.

I don't think these experienced sales folk can tell a potential client miles away.

EVERYONE has a story of wanting to buy a vehicle and either begging the salesperson to make the sale or gone to another marque.

its the booking of the test drive
not saying it shouldnt be done over the phone or by going in yourself
why have the option on most of dealers websites, if so many people are against it?
if you guys dont wont more options in how you do things, thats ok
but i do and i just stated why i want/did it

and fazda, not trying to be funny
but 9 times out of 10, i feel like im wasting my time when i talk to salesman
it seems they either talking utter BS which i pretend to believe (sometimes - still thinking whether i should elaborate on this one)
or they are completely clueless - now i know this is not the case with you and im not generalising either
but it has been my experience...

+1

once I had a Land Rover salesman who told me that a Defender is part-time 4WD. I laughed so hard in his face he ran away :)
