Howzit,

Saw a Impreza that looked similar to a 22B, but had some tell tale signs it wasnt the original 22B that was imported here into SA (as I recall there is only 1 in SA). So that got me thinking...what has happened to it? Is it still here in SA on our roads? Anyone know?

Cheers ;)

A colleague drives a silver-beige 22b. He cares more for it than his genitals.

One of my mates in Durban has one, Blue Gold Mags.. EPIC car
Calls it the "Shagon Wagon" cause he gets so much &*^&% lol

Beware of imitations...;)

Saw an immaculate black "Sti" the other day which was originally a bog standard 2.0 Impreza, and the poor sucker who bought it paid for the real thing!!

Not a happy chappie when I pointed it out to him....:p

Oh fark!! Thats terrible! Surely looking at the engine would have given it away?? Eina!!

That assumes that the guy bothered to open up the engine bay and actually knew more about cars than "STI means VROOOOOOM!!!"

There were 3 officially reg in the country. 2 were in bad accidents

The blue one at investment cars was finally bought by a Scoob enthusiast and rebuilt true to stock. It was still in good shape, just a little old.

It looks good in the flesh.

The 22B was the wide track units with a 2.2 block and a VF22 turbo. It had many light weight parts on it. They are still bloody fast point to point.

The newer scoobs now have bigger blocks and larger turbos.

Now typically, japanese JDM cars can be specified with a whole host of different options from the factory. This included a free turbo upgrade at no cost. So a 22B was a truly unique car. Each had it own set of original factory fitted options.

But with a little tuning the 22B(555 in hex) is still a fast car. And with 102 octane petrol, wickedly fast in stock form. Due in part to the 8000 rpm liimt
