Been getting a crappy latency latley:

Web Africa Unshaped : 800-900ms
Nexus IS Semi Shaped : 700 - 3000ms
Cybersmart: 400-600ms

Now according to noobs law Cybersmart should be the worst. And yes i do have the latecy hack/fasterping reg edit done.

The worst of it all it that my ball and chain who sits next to me is getting a better latency than me.

Wow, unshaped is getting 800-900ms... you sure there aren't any programs running in the background using bandwidth (conclusion derived from "my ball and chain who sits next to me is getting a better latency than me."). eg... Skype, MSN, Anti Virus/Spyware software updating, torrent downloads etc

Are you losing packets? Def sounds like a line issue.

And what are those number? In-game pings or what? How are your local pings?

 What exactly did you do? Cause latency is usually not a software problem.

Latency in WoW is partialy a software problem as well. Something to do with multichaneling in windows or such. So "hacking" or rather editing the registry to no let windows do its channeling etc helps latency in the game to a great extend. Pings from 500 down to 300 etc.

I would agree that you should check your local pings as well, it may be a PC problem or the cable to your ADSL hub and nothing to do with your ISP.

disable all addons / mods and check your ping ... if its still the same ... it aint your mods.(just trying to help eliminate options.)

Proberly will phone telscum to check line. will check local speeds later on.

The latency hack is a well known registry edit which lowers your latency to wow. But it cant be that since its been on for a while now.

No programs running in the background. only zonealarm which is turned onto game mode. It also shows WoW as the only active internet program running.

I would blame telcom
I had that range for about a year (including random DC's and the line going dwn from 5mins to 2hrs),then i got them to check the exchange and have hadd 350+ since

I have had omen cause this in the past, also could be your wow data files that have become fragmented. Remember windows, she does not defrag anything bigger than 2 gigs (true for xp at least, not sure about vista, have avoided it).

There is a tool called contig.exe which can defrag these files, it's on the M$ site somewhere
