I had an interesting experience yesterday. After over a month of running without issues my dashboard suddenly started crashing. I could not stay connected for more than a few minutes before the dash would crash (hey, that ryhmes
)
I have a Novatel card and so I thought I'd try to get to the forums to see if any progress had been made on running the card without the dash, but I could not stay connected for long enough to even load the forum page, let alone do a search
Eventually about 11pm last night I decided to uninstall and then reinstall the vodaphone software. After reinstalling it seems to be kinda stable again. I did have 1 crash this morning, but was able to stay connected long enough to do some downloads.
So, questions:
- Has anyone figured out how to get rid of the dash? (for Novatel, NOT Option)
- Is Vodaphone gonna do anything about the crashes? Do they even have any idea why it crashes? To me it looked like maybe a connection error on the DUN port was causing the dashboard to crash, but I'm no expert.
This is potentially a big problem. Being a programmer and network admin I know a bit about computers and this had me stuck. Imagine what a poor computer illiterate end user feels like...
[An extra thought]
Sometimes when the dash crashes it asks if I want to save a crash dump. Is there anyone I could send this to who would be able to make sense of it and maybe figure out the reason for the crash?
