Anyone this afternoon tried to access a Gmail account via IE ?

Front page 'flashes' / gets stuck & won't go any further. However, able to access Gmail accounts without problem in Chrome.

Is this suddenly an IE problem or perhaps my PC's settings (which I don't recall changing at all since this morning) ?

Tried again, and this time got a Run Time Error to do with IE and C++, no. starts with 6..., and is 4-digits long.
Doesn't stay on the screen long enough to read the whole thing - presume it's a software programming error, but anyone know any more ?

Chrome is by far the fastest on GMail. And it can create a nice little GMail "App" for you. Launches really quickly, faster than any other browser, and it stores things offline too.

Seriously it's worth getting just for the GMail, even if you keep IE as your default browser.

Thanks, Synaesthesia.

Sorted out the IE problem - had to do with a Trusted Site setting.

I do use Chrome occasionally, and have the App. you wrote about running for 2 other sites - have now added Gmail to it, but generally find IE fast enough, when working optimally. Rgds.

You should pull your mail into Outlook.

I've always had e-mail directed to Outlook, now Windows Live Mail .. however, periodically need to go into Gmail not only for mail, but docs. as well.

Check your computers date, if you get "Trusted Site" errors and such.

Automatically set to update date & time, if I understand you correctly - however, accessing Gmail a/c now OK in IE, but tried to get to ''Documents'' a short while ago, & it did the same thing as yesterday. Will have another look around to fix - may need to add the Docs. part of Gmail as a ''Trusted Site''.

you won't be able to log into Gmail if your date is set to something like 2002, that's all i'm saying. Auto Internet time should work.
