Hi guys and girls,

I need a new cellphone, at the moment I am using a K800i, and this is how i see it:

-Great reception
-Great form factor (don't really like sliding/flipping designs)
-Great battery life (I get 2 days)
-Better than great camera

-Terrible PIM
-Pathetic calendar/appointment handling
-My fingers seem to be too fast for it when I am smsing without T9

Which phone would you recommend? Frankly, I have no time nor inclination to scour the web and read endless reviews. I need a phone which will do above things as good as possible. Price is irrelevant.

Any suggestions (bonus if it's with links) :)

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Both of those are a bit long in the tooth. I need something new, to last about 8 months.

I wanted the N95, then I got a bit put off by the battery issues. FWIW, I am an extremely heavy user and I used to battle to see the end of the day without charging when I had the N70. If I can use the N95 for a day without charging (heavy use) and charge it every night that is fine.

Other interesting ones are the offerings from HTC - not the TyTN, don't need that keyboard, but there is the one with the GPS that seems not too bad.

Htc P300

It has GPS which is really nice, but no 3G I believe. I use a plain and simple Nokia 1600 - nothing fancy about this phone except for the battery life which is fantastic.

Nah nice phone not practical! Tomorow SE will anounce its "N95 Competitor" wait and see!;)

I'm not going to wait for an announcement, simply because this means that it will only be available here next year.

I am also not a brand follower and don't particularly care whether it is a Nokia, SE, Motorola, whatever. It will be replaced every 6-8 months anyway.

I need a phone which satisfies the above requirements, and so far only Highflyer has given me a suggestion...

I hate the fact that all they do when I go to a cellphone shop is give me a dummy phone, what good is this in choosing a device...if I could actually look at a working sample I wouldn't need to ask questions like this.

Eten X500 ... no moving parts so there is less to break ... 400Mhz processor, Bluetooth, Wifi, Edge and GPS ... 1.5 cm thick running windows mobile 6.0
i got to say it is one of my personal favourite devices at the moment. Out of all the WM devices i have had i use 2 of them religiously ... my X500 and my Qtek 9000 ( Jasjar ) i will see on friday if the HT^C Touch will knock the X 500 out of my hands.

Well its between the N73 and K810 IMO.
The N73 is symbian lots off problems...

Ill take a K810 and in 6 months the "K850"

It is unfair hey. I was in the same predicament as yours in March. I am an ex N70 user and currently using Sony Ericson P990i which is not a shabby phone either. I just find it not to be very practical but the battery life is pretty okay. Sony's generally have PIM and synchronisation issues and I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to hook up calendars and stuff.

The BlackJack buttons are not practical either. I found myself struggling to write a simple SMS.

If I had a choice, I would go back to my N70 though. After the software upgrade that I did, it was perfect and the battery power not bad either.

For now, I would recommend HTC P7500 which my wife is using.

Ye and if price is not an issue!:p
Your wife must be very strong, physically. The phones big and heavy!!:o

Piesang, there was nothing really good in the candybar form factor, especially since I needed a smartphone and didn't want to compromise on the functions cos of the form factor.

So far the phone is great, I'm very familiar with the S60 UI so transition was painless.

Battery seems a bit of a problem though - charged it yesterday afternoon (untill it showed full charge), at about 12 last night it died. Charged it through the night, I know a Li-Ion battery needs a few cycles to achieve full capacity. Holding fingers crossed that it gets better, all I want is one full day, I am totally OK with charging every night. But I hammer my phone during the day, and initially I had issues with the N70 where the battery would die sometimes during a particularly heavy day.

But yeah, all in all, I am very happy with this phone.
