Suggested PSU

I'm upgrading my current 6 year old PC to something mid range and hopefully it will last for another 6 years. My current PSU is a no name 750w and am a bit nervous using it with my new parts.

I'm not gaming at the moment but would like to have the option if I want to in the future. So no graphics card for now.

New setup:

Motherboard: MSI Z77 G43
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K - 3.4GHz CPU - LGA 1155
Ram: Corsair ValueSelect DDR3 1333MHz Memory Module - 4GB (X2)
HDD: 40gb & 80gb IDE & 500gb & 2TB Sata
Drive: LG DVD-rom

What would you guys recommend for a new PSU? I tried psu calculator and said I need a 350w, which I feel I probably made a mistake in the inputs...haha!

You can still use your PC and do some light gaming with the intergrated graphics (Intel HD 4000)on your i5 3570K.

The MSI Z77 G43 doesn't have any IDE/PATA ports, but you can still use your IDE hard drives on that motherboard with a IDE to SATA adapter, you can pick up one from Esquire for about R100.

For a PSU an Antec HCG 600 or Corsair TX 550/650 would be more than enough for your current setup and any upgrades e.g. a new/second graphics card.

What is your budget? Are there any other components, from a previous build, other your HDD's that you are going to use again?

Thanks for the response. Going to put the IDE drives in enclosures for backup purposes.

Well all my budget has gone into new CPU/ MB / RAM....and have already gone over what I wanted to spend but I put in more as I want my new system to last a couple of years. At max, I have R1000 left.

Using my dvd rom/HHD/ PSU (for now) from my old rig.

I'd suggest Corsair 650-800 watt. I'v had my corsair 650 for years now, was running to 2x radeon 6870's (upgrading to Asus GTX 670 ) with a 3770k and water cooling with ample easy.

Corsair CX500 at around R650 (3yr warranty).

Cooler Master GX450 at around R620 (5yr warranty). It's more efficient and has a higher wattage.

I would go for the Corsair.

I have a VX550 and its rock solid and silent

Bought a GS600 the other day for another pc and its a nice PSU

Both brands are fine, the Corsair has more wattage on the 12v rail but the Coolermaster has a higher 80+ rating and longer warranty. Unless your are going to go crossfire/SLI, the Coolermaster would be my choice for single cards (discounting dual GPU dies on single cards).

Oh, and the Corsair has LED's.
