My husband uses a laptop almost exclusively for making presentations and reading documents.

He currently has a small laptop (Acer, I think) but this just does not seem sufficient anymore. He needs something with a a bit of a larger screen and more 'woema'! It is just very slow and not doing the trick anymore.

Can you suggest something? Budget is approx R10 000.

Gigabyte Q1742 http://www.gigabyte.co.za/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4226#kf

South of R10k
2 year warranty
17.3" 1600x900 screen
Core i7 quad processor (future proof)
8GB RAM/memory
750GB hard drive - perhaps swap for a solid state drive, much faster than a hard drive at the cost of capacity - 120GB SSD +-R1,500, makes a helluva difference especially in laptops
Decent graphics card

Have a look at the Samsung range of Ultrabooks.

Got a Series 5 Ultra i3 from Takealot recently and it's awesome! Service was good too!

I have seen the Series 5 Ultra i5 at Makro, Dion Wired, IC and a few other stores for around R8999-R9999. The warranty is 3 years on the i5 and 2 years on the i3 (please confirm this). Would recommend this range based on my experience. The screen is 14" though. The Series 9 Ultrabooks have bigger screens but then its a bit out of budget.

Hope this helps :)
