I don't like being inconvenienced by carpooling and don't really want to but there are two colleges who lives in the same area as me (3km radius) and they have asked to travel with me.

Having never done this before, I'm not sure what to charge them.

I also want to charge them a bit less than the usual going rate (whatever that is) and point out to them that I am doing so to make up for the inconvenience of them having to take public transport once a week when I have other commitments after work.

The commute from home is 20km one way and I use +- R1300 on fuel for work since I average about 9.5L/100km.

Neither of them has a car and they currently take a combination of MyCity bus with 2 changeoves and an Uber to get to work.

Not really pooling if you're the only one with a car. It's nice if you can pool with other people with cars.

That said, AA rate for a car over R255k is R1.24 p/km.
1.24 * 40 ≈ 50 per day + R50 for your trouble / 2 = R50 per day each.
50 * 5 = R250 each per week minus R50 for days you didn't drive.
It's convenient if they pay you at the start or end of each week, so you can fill up your tank with the cash they give you.
win-win for everyone.

Thanks!
I used the AA calculator and they sent me a certificate of R1.67 p/km so working on that :)

Just say no. Let each person find his own way to work.
