There was a thread about this years ago where I saw people recommending the D-Link DSL 2750U to improve their sync stability, specifically with an eye to reducing line noise. But it's old, pre-ASSIA, and many of those routers aren't sold anymore.

I'm now on DSL 20Mb, but because of the line noise it does get switched down by ASSIA. The router is a Telkom-branded Netgear, and it's old AF. It's old, it's vulnerable to KRACK and a thousand other things under the sun, and it needs to go.

I'm not on VDSL and the area won't see VDSL for a while. Maybe not even for the next three years. So DSL it will be.

So, any recommendations for a ADSL router that may end up improving line noise? It doesn't need multiple ports, it doesn't need to have WiFi devices attached to it, and fast Ethernet ports are perfectly fine. But if it has those things that's fine too.

Line stats: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=472718&d=1509082663

EDIT: I'll also be tracking my sync speeds and line noise with RouterStats 6.9, so I'll have some graphs available in 24 hours as well.

Routers with the Broadcom ADSL chipset's used to have better SNR performance on bad lines.

Edit.
Changed to Broadcom

I have been quite impressed with the Broadcom BCM6318 chipset which is their latest (released at the end of 2011) ADSL modem/router processor. The Tenda D301 router which I am using is based on this chipset but it is also included in the high end TP-Link Archer D7 and D9 ADSL routers. There are several different versions of the 2750U but I think they all use Broadcom chipsets such as the BCM63281 (T1, C1 versions), BCM6318 (T2 version) etc.. The BCM63137, BCM63138 and BCM63148 etc. are their latest VDSL chipsets. I find that the BCM6318 usually outperforms all of the other Chinese ADSL modems that I have tried (Realtek, Trendchip etc.) and is the most stable and achieves the best speeds on my long noisy line.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

Does anyone know if Openserve's network supports Target SNR adjustment? I know Billion router firmwares are generally capable of this, but I wasn't sure if ASSIA might interfere with that. If it doesn't, that would be a neat feature to have handy for line tweaks.
