Any suggestions or recommendations of places to study for a CCNA in Cape Town, from what I’ve seen it is possible to study it two parts ICND1(640-822) and ICND2(640-816) or you can do it in one go ICND1+2(640-802) and if anyone knows there is a CCNA-security IINS(640-553) cert but is only valid for 3 years, in the CCNA(640-802) cert is the security included in that and is the IINS a "short course"?

self study to save urself money.
If you have no clue about IT, do it in 2 goes, otherwise save urself cash and do the exam all in one (640-802)
The sec+ is not included, since it needs ccna as prerequisite.

Get the study guides, and i am gonna sound like broken record here download gns3 and use it for simulations.

Cost to study at place like torque IT 10k+
self study with exam included 2.5k..

I did the selfstudy way. Used CBT Nuggets and built a lab using Packet tracer 5.0.

Scored 837 on the exam, note that the passing score is 825 so brace yourself! ;-)

Busy doing my self study now, decided to do the exams in two parts. Using a 2900 switch loaned from work and any other damn resource I can find.

+1 Self study. You will learn way more than if you attend a course.

I did the self study route and got 97% A awesome exam. Loved the simulations. :)

...cert but is only valid for 3 years

Last time I checked all their certs were only valid for 3yrs with the exception of CCIE & Specialist certs which are two years. It's a money making racket I tell you ;)

Also busy with the selfstudy now, using Trainsignal's videos. Having worked on 2900s, 3550s, 3548s, 6509s and 6506s at work I am not too concerned about the practical part though I will probably test some of the configs we don't use at work.

Out of interest sake, where did you guys write the exam? Also that is the official one where you get your login details to Cisco's website ect too?\

ps. Will need to write it in Cape Town.

Well you can go to PearsonVUE to find a testing center near you, then you phone the center and they will register you and all the rest.

Can anyone recommend some Packet Tracer Labs for ICND 1?
