This is more like it. I can live with this as i anyway do the bandwitdh hogging thing after hours when more bandwitdh is available.
So a anti like Telscum method. Like comparing a grown up's methodology with those of a kid. So a anti like South African way for a solution. Should send this ti ICASSA

It goes on: "This fair usage policy automatically identifies the very small number of extremely heavy users and manages their bandwidth only during peak hours (being 6pm to 11pm Monday to Friday, and 12pm to 4pm on weekends and bank holidays), to protect the service for all our other customers. Outside peak hours, the use of the internet by these heavy users is unaffected."
What is their definition of extremely heavy users though?

What I read between the lines is heavy p2p users and MP3 downloads.... Telkom class this as criminal and block it (port shaping). 3G cap users is already clasified by Telkom as abusers... So we do get the rotten end of the stick

Tiscali said it has consulted with customers and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to draw up the new FUP

Telkom already has a FU Policy :D

shouldnt somebody ask Tiscali to PROVE with documentation, their supposed stated theory that a small percentage of users are or have been affecting their network?

Otherwise one is being fed a line by an ISP, with no supporting evidence, which effectively allows them to close off and throttle aspects of the internet..

Any Tiscali customers not chewing grass thoughtfully and staring through the fences, feel like phoning them up and asking for them to furnish this data they're using as justification for reducing their services while not reducing their prices?

The problem in south africa is not abuse by the adsl subscribers but absuse by telkom of their monopoly. I belive there is no bandwidth hog problem in south africa, 3 gigs of "ensless entertainment" made sure of that.

Lucky English get the reap the benefits of LLU and a strong (yet mostly silent) regulator. If someone doesn't like Tiscali's new FUP they can easily go elsewhere.

We can also go Ëlseware to: Telkom..........Telkom/IS.......Telkom/any-other..Telkom

no such thing as a bandwidth hog, you take what they give you and they give you what you pay for.

C'mon I dont believe it

Do You really ......Really believe that You get what You pay for Slim... International bandwidth seem to be the same from ADSL512 to ADSL1024 and users with 384 get the same results as I. Yet I pay 3*more?? I have not yet mastered all the tricks. I tried RasPPPoE ....XP PPPoE...router..etc. direct only TCPIP...other modems....tweaks the lot! but averages remained the same. Due to shaping and prioritising ????

The system is as best I can get it. Have not yet tried a total clean install
Have not Yet tried proxy's MrBeep, Clipse... other. Do not know how set up yet.

I do not have much data to compare with as forum members only post Telkom results......dont believe or trust them.I have asked, begged and gave up trying to get other badwidth test posted but even RPM is not commited

See my current bandwith results looks good but average is still 380 Kbps overall with all other bandwidth testing on the net

yes you get what you pay for, the demand is high so the price is high.. its basic economics, with the right workaround or two you can easily get anything of any protocol and near full or full speed, just takes tiny bit of knowledge and sometimes a little money or access.

If you're prepared to read i'll tell you 2 words that will get you anything on any protocol even with the most hectic shaping (port and packet), GRE tunneling

Thanx Will do some research. What is the bandwith international current using these broadband and other testing....
PS How can I have signature as default off for sending ??????
