Villa call off Barry move to Reds

Aston Villa say that Gareth Barry will be staying at the club and not moving to Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Villa claim the Reds failed to meet a deadline to sign the midfielder, who stated he wanted to move to Anfield, and now any switch is off.

"During talks in the past few days, a final deadline to conclude this episode was set that all parties were aware of and agreed to," said a Villa statement.

"This deadline has now passed and so Gareth will remain with Villa."

Man City sign Ben Haim from Blues

Manchester City have completed the signing of centre-back Tal Ben Haim from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

The Israeli joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Bolton in June 2007 but has left after failing to establish himself in the first-team set-up.

He has been allowed to leave by new Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari and has signed a four-year deal with City.

The 26-year-old's transfer is subject to him gaining a work permit, which should prove a formality.

Ben Haim has made regular appearances for his country, including two matches against England during qualifying for Euro 2008.

He is believed to have cost about £5m and is City's second summer signing after the arrival of Brazilian striker Jo for £18m from CSKA Moscow.

Ben Haim will be hoping for more first-team football at Eastlands after just 13 starts for Chelsea last season.

But, while he was competing with John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex at Stamford bridge, he will be battling for a central defensive berth with Richard Dunne and Micah Richards at City.

Hughes had hinted to a defensive signing as he recently said: "With so many games to play this season it is important to get the balance right.

"Last season the team was weakened when Micah Richards and Richard Dunne were not in it. We are trying to address that."

Two Arsenal players leaving the club are the top 2 that isnt good for the club.

Ronaldo: I'm Joining Madrid Next Week

Real Madrid have been on red alert ever since the Portuguese international spoke of his ambition to join them. Madrid President Ramon Calderon has even boasted of how he would splash out €100m on the United man, only for the English club to refute all offers and shackle the player.

It now seems as if the English club has no choice but to sell, as Ronaldo has issued an ultimatum as he attempts to cut and run from Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ronaldo is currently in Portugal where he is recovering from injury but he admits that he will return to England next week to confront his club and tell them that he is joining Real.

"Everything is fine. Next week I will return to England and tell them [Manchester United] that my only desire is to play for Real Madrid and that I will not negotiate," Ronaldo told AS.

According to reports in Spain, the winger will hold a meeting next Tuesday with Ferguson and the club's owners to tell them that he has had enough.

It's not what United fans want to hear but it seems as if the Ronaldo saga is finally coming to an end and no doubt Calderon will be dancing to the tune of Ronaldo's words.

Exactly, 100m off united 600-700 million debt would sure help.

I cannot wait to see if united really need ronaldo, or if ronaldo needs united :), 2 weeks and we find out.

bwaahaaahaaa. Joke of the day. He can moan all he wants, at the end of the day, the club owns him. Personally, I don't care. Funny how there is nothing about this on the genuine footy sites, eg: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/index?cc=5739

lol you view of a "genuine" football site is one that calls it soccer.
Google ronaldo....funny how everyone is now reporting it since I posted it from my "non-genuine" site

Rumours fly around on all the rubbish websites, cos they obviously want hits. Try a genuine site and see what happens.

Its from fcking GOAL.com (biggest football site) and from a spanish newspaper.Even rednews.co.uk is reporting it.

Here is an interview from Madrid's president (from today), notice he says the same thing that ronaldo and manchester will talk next week.

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon admits he can do little more as the club wait for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to decide on his future.

The Portuguese star has been tracked by Real all summer, although United are adamant they are not prepared to sell the man whose goals helped them to Barclays Premier League and Champions League glory last season.

Ronaldo has refused to confirm where his future lies and Calderon told Spanish sports daily AS: "Look, this is a problem that wasn't created by Real Madrid. That which is exaggerated or not about this signing is down to those who've given it as read that the deal is closed and not by us. Madrid are just spectators in this soap opera."

He added: "At the moment Manchester United and the player are in an argument and Madrid are waiting...and we can't do any more for the time being.

"Obviously, it's clear that we want Cristiano with the quality that he has. But there is a contractual problem that United and the player have to resolve, not us.

"Will he persuade the club to let him go? I can't say that. That question's for the player, who has publicly said his dream is to play for Madrid.

"We hear those words with pride and satisfaction, but his departure doesn't only depend on Cristiano. United are the ones that have to sort it out and it will either happen or not."

Ronaldo, who is recovering from ankle surgery, is yet to return to Manchester, but Calderon believes when he finally does it could be decisive for player and club.

"It could happen then, but it's true that we have to wait developments," he continued. "Everyone's thinking so much about this matter that people can get confused and I understand that they're fed up.

"They (United and Ronaldo) will talk next week and if after this conversation United decide to sell him, then of course Madrid will be there."

Are you seriously telling me that you believe this BS? Oh boy. You have a lot to learn :) If there was any truth to any of those stories, Ronaldo would've been at Madrid a long time ago...

More BS to try and dodge the truth. The truth being you spread BS rumours from BS websites and think it's genuine. You and cashmoney can go get married.
Do yourself a favour and read real websites for a change. Denial is a sad thing to witness.
