Chelsea set to seal Robinho deal Chelsea are close to signing Real Madrid forward Robinho, according to Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon.
"Everybody expected negotiations to go close to the wire and that's what it will do but we're confident it will happen," he told BBC London 94.9.
"There are no hitches it's just a lengthy process."
Reports have suggested that the 24-year-old Brazil international, who is contracted to Real until 2010, could cost the Blues about £30m.
Kenyon added that AC Milan forward ***a, who the Blues have also been linked with, would not be joining his compatriot Robinho at Stamford Bridge.
"Everybody identifies ***a as one of the world's best players," said the Chelsea chief executive.
"All I can say it's flattering to be associated with the player, but there won't be anything happening this window or this season."
He added: "Our manager Luis Felipe Scolari identified a couple of players he wanted, one was Deco, and we've seen the impact he has made, and the other was Robinho. It's important we supported Luis."
Scolari said: "This is a situation for our board. If Robinho arrives or doesn't arrive, it's OK.
"He's a very good player but I have fantastic players here. My work is on the pitch and nothing more."
This will be the biggest transfer this season if it goes through.
Robinho Stays - Report
Marca journalist Juan Ignacio García-Ochoa has reported that Real Madrid have rejected the latest and supposedly final offer from Chelsea for the signature of Robinho.
Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon has been working hard over the last few days to seal the deal but his bosses are only willing to offer €32 million for the Brazilian winger, well short of the €40 million the Spanish giants were demanding.
And with time running out in the transfer market, it appears that Madrid, who had previously stated that they would only sell the 24 year old if they can first find his replacement, have put an end to all negotiations and the will retain the services of O Principe for at least one more season.
Although the official word has not yet been released by the club, once and if it is confirmed, Robinho will have to begin the task of winning back the support and affection of the fans and his teammates.
Official: Quaresma Joins Inter
According to the Porto official website, the transfer saga involving Ricardo Quaresma has come to an end after it was confirmed that he has joined Jose Mourinho at Inter.
Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring Quaresma to the San Siro and after the draw against Sampdoria, it seemed very unlikely the winger would arrive as Inter president, Massimo Moratti stated the club do not require his services.
The Special One was clearly disappointed by this, but apparently he has convinced Moratti to open his bank account once more to sign Quaresma.
The financial details of the deal were also released and it stipulates one of Inter's players going in the opposite direction. The Nerrazzuri will pay Porto €18.6 million, plus another €6 million in performance-based bonuses, while also including young Portuguese midfielder, Vitor Hugo Pélé, with the 20 year old going to Porto on a permanent transfer.
Pélé, considered a bright prospect and budding talent, is valued at about €6 million meaning that the total valuation for Quaresma stands at €30.6 million.
It now seems that Mourinho has all the pieces to his Inter puzzle after bringing in Amatino Mancini, Sulley Muntari, and now Ricardo Quaresma in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Porto have lost one of their stars and it is not yet known if they have lined up a replacement for him before the transfer market closes.
Robinho Not Worth My Time - Schuster
The German coach was asked about the Brazilian's announcement that he wanted to leave the club and join Chelsea and said that he was not going to even consider it.
"Today is not Robinho day, it was our day and the game is what is important. What Robinho does really does not interest me. He does not deserve the attention," Schuster said.
Madrid have not won at Riazor since the 1991-92 campaign and Schuster was able to joke about his preparations for Los Merengues visit next term.
"I do not know what it is, but there is something about this place. We will spend the next few months studying this if we need to bribe the referee or play with an extra player," he said with a smile.
"We have tried everything, but Depor have beaten us and we have to congratulate them."
When asked if he felt Madrid were in need of a new forward to add a spark, Schuster stated that he was happy with that area and said it was his defence that needed to work harder.
"I do not think we lacked anything up front, we just needed to be more attentive at set pieces, that was what we should have done," he continued.
"It is not worrying because we dominated the game and I felt that the forwards did well.
