Do they really think it'll be profitable for them? I'll just get my news somewhere else. If anything it'll cost them advertising money. Anyone else think it was a stupid move?

I have never even been to the Sunday Times website. I mostly get my online news from IOL, News24 and TimesLive.

Most of the content from the Sunday Times is on TimesLive, and if not there, usually on IOL or News24 in some form or the other.

They may already be losing advertising revenue, which has been happening to print media, and that is the reason for the the paywall.

I think they will gain more. They wheren't getting any revenue from people such as yourself anyway, so it won't make a difference to them if some don't use their site anymore.

It's the trend in the rest of the world. Most now allow you to see the first page, but require a subscription to go further.

I don't buy newspapers anymore. I am a subscriber to the UK Times and Sunday Times using my IPad. The editions are available in the morning for half the price of the printed copy without me having to the store to buy it.

the stuff on twitter i have clicked is free so far..if they start posting pay stuff will just unfollow. would be a problem if everybody does it but for now its just them.
