So I’ve booked a test drive of the Ora once it lands here end of November/December.

While I doubt I’ll jump on it unless it’s a truly flawless experience that ticks every box, the stupid taxes remain in place and/or no rebates exist for going EV I just can’t justify giving money away.

But some questions popped up in my head and oddly aren’t that easy to find answers to so I figured I would ask here.

1. Would the EV Charger be connected on the DC side of the Sunsynk? I would imagine that’s best so there aren’t any losses.

2. I would imagine this would happen on the Auxiliary and you can then configure that to only run under certain conditions.

3. Would the car require a certain minimum to start charging? Or is it much like the batteries connected in line where it would take what it gets?

I had another one but now lost track of it, might edit in later.

Between work from home days and weekends I could see us happily keeping an EV topped up with our excess in summer and maybe play a bit with the range in winter.

There’s also the option of adding a second 8kW Sunsynk and another 10-12 panels East and West down the line which would make it perfectly sustainable.

Hmm I see from the brochure the portable AC charger does 13A which I’m guessing is to allow for a normal AC plugin that doesn’t bring down the whole house.

3kW then which is same as my geyser and means a top up of 10kW would take around 3 hours which is just fine.

Is this possible?
I doubt it.

Not exactly your case but some info there.

I saw that yesterday and wondered if they stole some questions from me.

I know you get DC specific home chargers and I believe they are coupled directly to the DC system but having not done it personally figured I would ask.

Shouldn’t be much different than the battery outputs really.

Quickly checking a few home chargers it seems they are all AC input, even those that are DC output.
