Sunsynk inveter settings

Took the plunge, have the 5kw inverter and the 5kwah battery from Sunsynk. Not sure what settings to use to prioritise solar during the day, eskom at night and battery when there is load shedding. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Didn't your installer configure it for you?
 
Not sure, but we are a household of only 2 people (and without the kettle being on the house runs at around 500w) not sure what that equates to per hour though.

Yes, but I see at night the system is using the battery instead of Eskom, I would prefer to use the battery less (only want to use battery during loadshedding if possible).

Cool, then give him a call. I'm sure he'll be happy to change the config.

Otherwise check out some YouTube videos or read the documentation/research it and get skilled up on the operation. I'm sure you'll want to tweak things down the line.

Sorry I don't have a sunsynk so can't advise.
 
Recouping layout is quicker if you work the battery

Naturally you have to find the balance that works for you ie what percentage battery you need to make it through shedding and have that as your minimum soc

Solar only produces when there is load or empty battery so if you can save lets say an extra 3units a day over 15 years you would at todays prices generate about R50k in extra electricity if we keep getting 15% increases our bill doubles approx every 5years

So after 15years the saving may be closer to 100k

So yea saving the battery to have backup for shedding is fine

Saving for prolonging the battery not so much imo

Thanks, like I said my electricity is paid for (not by me) so am looking to use eskom more than battery, only want battery to be used during load shedding if possible.

So have set SoC for battery at 100% for all time slots, so I guess that'll mean battery will only get used when there is load shedding at night?
 
Don't know the sunsynk behaviour

From what i gather it will switch to grid if available when it goes below the percentage ie if solar produces less than load

And if the grid charge box is ticked it will charge from grid if below that percentage , ie if you want the battery to top up at night when no solar

Simplest is just to turn off the timer. The inverter will operate in ups mode, keeping the battery at 100% and switching over during LS
 
Just keep in mind batteries typically don't like being stored at 100% for extended periods. Loadshedding will obviously cause the batteries to be cycled but do make a point of cycling them from time to time when loadshedding is suspended for more than a week or so.
