What do you recon the cheapest is we can set something like this up

1gb ram
slow processor
smallest hard drive
fast ethernet
win7 prof or xp prof

need them for clerical machines.. It email and office

You could probably set something up for R2.5k, screen included.
Atom integrated motherboard would do the job perfectly. Also, maybe run Ubuntu?
Unless they're going to make use of some Windows-only compatible software.

case, mobo with onboard vga, celeron e3200, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD,Win7 Pro, Office Basic 2007,
R5.5K

no screen, keyboard, mouse or dvd rom.

why not buy refurbished then? There are plenty of guys who buy obsolete systems from big corporations and refurbish them for resale.

guys who sell refurbs normally try to rip you off...

don't need screen's just the boxes

They are used for for like call center staff... answering email. opening word documents and excel
that's it

I dont want to complicate things buy going thin client

No rather buy a new pc dude, referbished pc's normally give a 3/6 month warranty.

A new celeron pc should cost you like 2.5k which is dirty cheap.

Celeron 430 1.8GHz (800FSB 512K)LGA 775Pinn EMT64 R 292 excl. R 332 incl. Should work well i reckon.

Call centre I work in is still use P3s. :) Slowly moving over to HP pre-built P4 and core2duo. They were around R4K-R5K a piece incl. OS. I don't like HP though, but when they break at least they go right back and I don't have to dig into them to fix things.

Win7 Pro is going to cost a bit unless you can figure some volume license stuff.

For general e-mail, light Excel, etc, that Celeron will do fine.

Have you signed up with Rectron, Frontosa or Pinnacle?

If I squeeze hard enough:

Intel E5200
Asus P5KPL-AM SE motherboard
1GB DDR2-800 RAM
Generic ATX chassis + 350W PSU
Samsung DVD writer
WD 250GB SATA HD

comes to R2265.68

For pc-int, with difference between a slightly quicker E5300 and a 320GB Samsung drive:

R2093.04

You can't beat a distributor selling direct to the public! :D

Check with them on the shipping costs 'cos that pricing is a winner.
