Kings defending well, but that's about all they're doing at the moment. Don't know how long they can keep it up.

Just watched the Lions game now. The first half our control of the game was exceptional. Jantjies was just brilliant last night. Then Kwagga was extremely good as well.

Mostert just makes Lood look bad with his work rate. He's just a machine.

Welcome back Combrinck!

It’s one huge roar in our Super Rugby XV of the week
http://citizen.co.za/sport/sport-rugby/1521427/its-one-huge-roar-in-our-super-rugby-xv-of-the-week/

The Lions dominate our team of the week given how brilliantly ruthless they were at the weekend in the Jukskei derby.

The Lions blew the Bulls away with a first half performance many sides would struggle to counter.

In fact, they were (still) the best South African side on show by some distance the past weekend.

As a result, they dominate our team of the week.

15 – Lwazi Mvovo (Sharks)

The forgotten Springbok was shifted to fullback for the first time in ages and delivered a superb performance.

He showed his finish ability with a hat-trick of tries but it was his security under the high ball – a previous weakness – that was notable.

14 – Ruan Combrinck (Lions)

Was he ever away?

The Springbok wing, injured until about two weeks ago, scored with his first touch and generally wreaked havoc as the Bulls struggled to contain him.

13 – Jan Serfontein (Bulls)

Accomplished on the attack and defend well while the rest of his teammates didn’t.

He deserves to play in a better team, a wish that will be granted at the end of the season.

12 – Harold Vorster (Lions)

The 23-year-old has slotted in brilliantly as Rohan Janse van Rensburg’s replacement.

He varies his play and hardly misses a tackle.

11 – Courtnall Skosan (Lions)

The winger did everything against the Bulls: he ran 113m, beat 5 defenders, broke the line 3 times and even made a turnover.

Only a well-deserved try was missing.

10 – Elton Jantjies (Lions)

Classy performance from a man who’s surely going to wear the Springbok No 10 jersey against France.

9 – Cobus Reinach (Sharks)

He controlled play well and held his own on defence. Still remains one of the shrewder halfbacks in South Africa.

8 – Warren Whiteley (Lions)

For once he wasn’t required to tackle so much, freeing him up to show what a dangerous attacking player he can also be.

7 – Jean-Luc du Preez (Sharks)

He’s an outstanding talent and is becoming more versatile weekly.

6 – Kwagga Smith (Lions)

He took a while to adjust after his Sevens exploits but is now very comfortable in his role as fetcher.

The Bulls simply couldn’t find a way to stop him stealing their ball at the breakdowns.

5 – Franco Mostert (Lions)

This man is currently the best lock in South Africa, if not the whole tournament.

A real threat on the attack and a robust defender, whilst also stealing two line-out balls.

4 – Eben Etzebeth (Stormers)

He was lucky that his yellow card for a slap didn’t cost his side more but made up for that with a splendid showing in the second half.

3 – Ruan Dreyer (Lions)

His brilliant try seemed to spark him to life as he dominated the scrums after a slow start.

Steadily becoming a Bok candidate.

2 – Malcolm Marx (Lions)

He is the next Bismarck du Plessis. Enough said.

1 – Ox Nche (Cheetahs)

Wholehearted performance in a terrible game for his side.

The youngster couldn’t show much of his ball-carrying ability but held his own in the scrums and tackled bravely.

Lots of Lions fans waiting with baited breath to see who gets chose by Aircon .... got a feeling some standouts will be left wondering why they aren't good enough for the Boks.

I'm very much in two minds here. Yes of course I want my whole team to be recognised as Springboks, but look at what the dismal Springbok performance did last year to the continuity of the Lions team... almost destroyed it. I almost want to say, while AC is still there, go pick anyone you want except the Lions :) It only really looks it the Lions are getting back that brotherhood of comradery they had last year, now.

The problem with Allisterible Coetzee is that he simply hasn't moved with the times (or just moved on to something else completely). His style is dated and predictable.

So yes, while there are a lot of Lions putting their hands up and actually deserve their colours, Allisterible simply wouldn't know what to do with them.

Very valid point actually. Just sad that a guy can play like a beast and not be included in a strong Bok team and have the pride of playing for his country anymore.

O.T - gooi some of those mielies guys like Kwagga are eating down this way :crylaugh:

Wow, I don't know what to say. Very very inexperienced team. Well done to Warren, he made the right choice there. But the rest I don't know what to make of it.
