Coronavirus Pandemic Appeal
April 2020
These are extraordinary times around the world, and we hope everyone in the Superbru community is safe and following government advice to remain so. As you'll be very aware, the world has come to a standstill, with global and domestic travel curtailed, schools, restaurants, theatres and pubs closed, and millions of people staying at home.
There is also next to no sport going on anywhere, and we miss it so much! The thrill of live sport is something we have taken for granted, and now that it's gone, we appreciate it so much more. We also miss playing Superbru.
Impact on Superbru
Millions of businesses have been affected by this pandemic, and as you can imagine, the lack of sport is having quite an impact on us here at Superbru. We rely on sport for our product, which attracts people to the website and app, and our revenue comes predominantly from advertising. With no sport, there's no product, resulting in a huge drop in revenue, which we rely on to pay our staff who keep Superbru running.
The immediate future of sport, and therefore the future of Superbru, is still very uncertain. A number of events have been postponed to later in the year or next year (e.g. Euro 2020, Tokyo 2020, Grands Prix and the Masters), while others have been cancelled (like Wimbledon) and some are still awaiting clarity on if, when and how they can resume (e.g. Premier League, Super Rugby). This adds to business uncertainty for us, because we can't reliably plan future products, sponsorships or revenue.
Can you help?
We have always wanted to be self-sufficient as a business, but this is an unprecedented situation over which we have no control. After a few Superbru players asked if they could make a small contribution, we opened this donation page and we're hugely grateful to all the players who have made donations so far.
There is no obligation to do so, but if you can afford to make a small contribution and if you've enjoyed playing Superbru in the past and would like to continue doing so in the future, perhaps you would consider helping us out. Any support would be massively appreciated.
