Supersonic is the worst ISP in SA

@eddief1
As it gets closer to 10PM things improve

New traceroute now that the network has stabilized

Quite funny how predictable the instability is

I've been trying to cancel with Supersonic for over a week because I want to move over to Axxess (they have better packages atm)

Phoned multiple times (with crazy waiting periods) and they say I have to cancel via email, but I've sent 5 emails already and no one bothers to even acknowledge the emails, never mind a phone call back; this is ridiculous!!

I must say I haven't had much connection issues though (on 50/5) >> The Vumatel network in my area is acceptable.

I only signed up with Supersonic back then as they were voted best ISP according to MyBroadband - what the hell happened??

Message them on FB & they'll give you a confirmation number for the cancellation

Calling them is a waste of time, it's quite incredible they haven't fixed their tech support situation, it's been a complete **** up for over a year now

They clearly have some serious issues at a management level across all departments

Yep, first external hop, 196.4.87.105

Looks like MTN's NNI is saturated then if it is only them affected in your neighbourhood

I think your best is to cancel and just move ISP's - give CISP a go, at least with them stuff like this gets escalated, followed up and feedback given.

Yeah agreed, I cancelled last week and will probably sign up with either CISP or Afrihost..

I'm not sure if there is an ISP that gives less of a **** about customer service than Supersonic..

If you're reading this thread because you're researching your next ISP, save yourself the pain and stay away from Supersonic

This is a 50Mbps line

I echo the above.

*** STAY AWAY FROM SUPERSONIC ***

F**k knows how these guys arrived at the top of the ISP of the year rankings that one year. Not a single thing I have experienced has explained that.

I also advise any prospective customers of Supersonic NOT TO SIGN UP with them. Save yourself endless pain and frustration!

I have been with them for years due to not many ISP options existing for me on the MTN fibre network (note the same company and no one else to blame). They are worse than having dealt with Telkom back in the ADSL days - a hell of a lot worse. I'd be very happy to be on the Openserve network right now, with all the ISP options. My simple reasons are:

POOR NETWORK PERFORMANCE as their network degrades massively from time to time. Right now I am getting 400ms+ ping to both Europe and USA. No gaming for me ;(
As described in this post this is a regular occurrence and hits often in the evenings.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE makes it all even worse. You can log a call with them but it goes nowhere. All the helpdesk is good for is logging calls, plus asking "did you turn it off and back on again". They have no technical information or fault-finding skills and no one with technical expertise has ever gotten back to me regardless of their promises. Dozens of calls later and I have given up.
No portal. No outages being reported. No visibility into how poor the experience on this network really is. Their one job is to catch customers on Twitter with a reply of "PM us your ID or account number" which takes the discussion out of the public domain. Very good at hiding their dirty laundry. About the only thing they seem to be good at.

You have been warned.

Same here, don't bother with Supersonic; I've had better customer service from Telkom and are busy with the tedious process of trying to cancel with SuperSlow. Rather go with Axxess or Cool Ideas - I'm jumping ship to Axxess as soon as my cancellation is processed.

Rain: "Hold my beer..."
SuperSonic has been worse. I've been with both of them to try and get better internet, but SuperSonic's service is terrible.

Luckily Herotel came to the party and fixed out pricing on the fibre in the complex so I'm very happy with Herotel at the moment.

My line went down on the 6th of July and I am still battling to get a resolution from Supersonic and Vumatel. I have been subjected to the worst ever s@#t from these two!!! Endless back and forth , from pictures of the router and requests for serial numbers, to rebooting the router and being tossed from one agent to the other! One of the Supersonic agents even asked me to yank the ONT off the wall to retrieve the serial number!
I just received a message from Vumatel , all is well and resolved and I still have no connectivity!!!! I had little to no issues during the SADV days, but since Vumatel took over, the service deterioration has been the worst I have experienced, compounded by hopelessly clueless Supersonic staff.

The full supersonic team needs to be euthanized. All useless AF.
