Is anyone having this same problem - I have fixed LTE from Supersonic which is through MTN - MY speeds are great for where I am being 60mbps down and 30mbps up, but every hour or so, it drops to 0.4 down and 0.1 up and I need to reboot the router. This is becoming very painful, is there a way to stabilize it?

To be honest

The b612 is custom supersonic firmware programmed routers and to be quite frank

They program it to be slower than a normal standard issued B618 or b525 or b535 etc

Why do you think they include the free router

I have 46 packages with Supersonic

I just don't use their free router.

I dont beloeve this is the issue though - I had the same problem through Axxess on MTN - I eventually cancelled the service - seems to me that something is happening on the tower that requires a reset of the modem every hour or two. Is this possible

What happens sometimes is that the device can connect on more than one frequency, when you reboot it selects one and sometimes these things decide to jump onto another frequency that has a "stronger signal". The problem arises when said signal is saturated - usually it's the lower frequencies since they penetrate a greater general area so naturally have more users connected.

You can monitor this with the Android app called HuaCTRL. or with LTE H-Monitor on the PC - https://www.ltehmonitor.com/en/

Since these are basic consumer routers, the hardware and memory on them is limited. I would suggest trying to borrow a similar router from someone to test it and see if it's any better - if at all possible.

Example of HuaCTRL from my phone:

While this is all true and technical you will still have to change your router

With Supersonic B612 router you can't switch between 4G only and B3 only

4G which is 2100Mhz and B3 which is 1800Mhz

B40 doesn't work with MTN/Supersonic

what about on a B618 - speeds became slow that pages fail to open - but internet still works - crawling but still works.

It seems to be a problem on the tower itself - Supersonic contacted MTN and they said they will look at the tower - seems as though the problem has now resolved itself - Must admit the service I have received from Supersonic (Although there were some teething issues) has been super. When they say they will call you back they do - Even if you miss the call 3 times - Which I did.

hehe yeah, I've been pleasantly surprised lately, they always handle my issues quickly and phone back after 3-5 days to make double sure if everything's still running peachy, not bad.

I figured out the problem, Downloaded an App on Windows called LTE-H Monitor - Could see that whenever signal dropped the router was connecting to another tower. In all it was jumping between 3 towers. Tower 1 is about 500m from my house - Great signal, Towers 2 and 3 are 20km and 45km respectively. Whenever there is a problem on my local tower it pushes me to the next tower miles away. Very Painful still no fix.

Also found another App called HUA CTRL Pro which allows me to save the Frequency that my best tower is on. This allows me to force my Modem onto that tower if it drops and moves to another tower. I believe that my tower was repaired, but this APP and the LTE-H App allowed me to identify the problem and sort it out when there were problems ( to some extent anyway), Only Works with Hauwei Routers though - Thank you to Netstrider above
