I've been buying my Whey protein from Dischem (Biogen) and the price went up to like R750

Any where else I could buy Whey protein cheaper for around the 3 KG tub?

Also, do you cycle your preworkout? I've been doing it for 2 weeks now and I'm wondering what are some good substitutes to help with the lifts for the time being since I'm cycling off.

Iv actually gone off preworkouts toatlly, found i just didn't need that amount of energy for a normal workout session. I hit some carbs about an hour before gym, sweet potato (poke loads of hols in it with a fork and pop it in the micro for 8-10min, mix cottage cheese and some tuna and have that together. That gives me enough energy for the workout and then i hit a shake after, i like the Evox Synergy Whey (yummy cookies & cream)

Since i spent winter slimming, iv moved to bulking and aim to eat 2g of protein for every kg body weight, so iv gotta chow 180g protein a day...

I'm currently cutting because ive gained more fat than usual on my bulk. I have started to finally count calories :D

As for the preworkout, i do need it because I like to progress as often as I can. I guess I"ll just have something with loads of carbs before I train. Do you think I should get like a powerade because it doesn't have caffeine and I'm trying to cycle off all stimulates.

As for the Evox, how much is the cookies and cream??

I'm looking for something around R500 if possible

guys please help with some advice, i'm currently trying to add muscle and lose weight. How should i eat?

currently taking whey after workout and in the morning (if i remember). Eating like i'm trying to lose weight e.g little to no carbs, fruit and veg and protein. cutting out sugars. Mostly doing weights more than cardio.

is this the right way? i'm 94kg trying to get to 90kg. but weight is not moving. what am i doing wrong?

Thanks

Doubt you'll get a 3 kg whey protein at that price - only 2 kg. Protein prices has increased drastically therefore I no longer use a protein shake but have a shake mixed with protein and carbs (Supplements SA Massive Muscle) and just eat more protein foods to increase my protein intake. For the R200 price difference between a Protein and what I currently use you can buy 4 x 30 Tray of eggs rather.

Supplement world has the Nutritech Whey at R629 for the 3kg which would be the best value for money.

As for pre-workout, I don't use it as well. I think it is a waste of money. Does not give nutritional value so why spend R300+ on a pre-workout just for energy.

All I do is sip on some BCAA + Creatine during my workout and as lumpyza mentioned eat an hour before my workout. I have a peanut butter sandwich which does not make me to full as if I had to have a proper meal.

Biogen = USN

Rather get nutritech more affordable genuine quality.

Might check out nutritech then, I'll have a look at those and yes doubt I'd get anything at R500 for a 3KG

I can't take creatine, it's somehow makes my acne worst (not sure why) although the preworkout I have has creatine but very little like a gram so it doesn't affect my skin.

It's good you having Whey in the morning and also as a post Workout.
I don't think you can add muscle and loose weight at the same time unless you're a newbie

You do not need to do Cardio really unless you want a big deficit. Just make sure, and I mean make sure you COUNT CALORIES. At first it can be annoying but you will get used to it and some apps allow you to save meals. I keep my breakfast the same and lunch. Only supper I have to add manually sometimes.

Check for a calorie counter to find out how much you must eat

Found nutritech on Takealot: 3,2 Kg cookies and cream for R699, not sure about delivery fee.

This says take 2 scoops at 200ml water, i usually used to take biogen at 1 scoop at 150ml water

Should I stick with the directions?

Depends on your protein requirement.

Nutritech has a better protein ratio per gram. I think with 1 scoop (30 g) of Nutritech you would get 25g protein whereas Biogen/USN would be 20g of protein as per packaging but I would get less.

So if you were taking 1 scoop of Biogen then Nutritech would be better as the protein ratio is better.

How long have you been doing this? Post your diet. Also, you won't add muscle and lose weight at the same time. You want to maintain your muscle mass while cutting down your fat. That's the best scenario you will get, unless you got money for the other stuff ;).

I'll probably go with the 1 scoop I usually take, i"ll order from Takealot as soon as my Biogen is almost finished.

@HDS LOL "other stuff" don't encourage anything

I've been gyming for almost a year now, i've lost weight and size and got stronger but now i would like to "see" the muscle if that makes sense.

My diet would be a bowl of cereal in the morning (oats, weetbix, pronutro) whatever cereal i feel for, fruits to snack on, lunch time will be chicken breast, veg and supper very similar.
I'm eating like i wanna loose weight but im not sure if this will help me build or maintain muscle?

Are you prepared to starve?Because you need to come out of your comfort zone if you want 8% bf, then your muscles and abs will show without even trying.

USN Hardcore whey is pretty cheap (R400 range/ 2kg) the one I use. Evox cookie and cream is yum!

Look at the Chromestore and SupplementsSA websites, Game usually has the Muscle Junkie Whey going cheap and USN Hardcore Whey are pretty good. Don't get used to pre workouts rather use it for those days you don't want to train. You don't want to get used to it where you feel you can't train without it. Also the stimulant based ones will fry your CNS & adrenals. There are non stimulant ones or rather use BCAAS/Aminos before or during.

Yeah will have a look at Games too, that's why I'm cycling preworkout now so I don't mess up my CNS and a build a tolerance to the stims
