I've had intermittent slow fibre speeds for upwards of a week now and am no closer to sorting out the issue after a week of chatting to different AH support agents over email.

I have done all the speed tests imaginable, tried multiple cables, connected via ethernet and wifi, reset to default and even changed routers and none of this has fixed the issue or given clarity as to what the problem may be.

My fibre speed drops from 15mbps to 2/3mbps constantly throughout the day. I have not experienced the speed drops whilst connected to the ONT directly but have had them when connected to my router over cable or wifi. I changed the ethernet cables between the router and ONT and the router and my PC but the issue continued to persist. It was finally suggested that the router might be faulty. So I borrowed a brand new router from a friend hoping it would solve the issue and I am still experiencing the exact same speed drops.

Weirdly, the only thing that fixes the problem is just unplugging and plugging back in the ethernet cable between the ONT and WAN port on the router, this gets the speed back to normal only to have it drop back down to 2/3mbps again after a few minutes.

I am really at a loss as to what the problem could be at this stage and it seems the support agents I am talking to are as well.

Afrihost, is there any way to definitively diagnose what the problem is?

Hi,

Sorry for the runaround you are getting.

I want to investigate.

Can you send me a private message with your email address so I can investigate?
