Surebrake Brakedisks and Pads

Hi everyone, I need opinions on Surebrake brake disks and pads. Are they any good? I have a 2013 Mercedes Benz C350 Coupe that needs new ones all around. MB quoted me more than double the price of a Surebrake quote.
Would you recommend Surebrake?
 
Haven't used them personally but have heard of others who have without any real complaints.

Dealership will always charge you a fortune, not just in parts but the labour as well.

If you are in the Cape Town, Northern Suburbs also give Goeiehooponderdele/Goodhopespares a shout and see what they have to offer and if you need fitment as well Engine Techniques right next door can also help you out.
 
I think I'll go Brembo now. I see they've got what I need the The Merc Man. Very competitive prices.
 
I've got them on my Suzuki's front brakes and no issues what so ever.
Paid R369 for the pads and Suzuki wanted R1860 for theirs pads.
Fitted myself
 
I recently installed SureBrake pads on a Honda, so far all is good, cannot tell them apart from the originals.

Oddly, I always found the merc dealer to be very reasonable with parts prices.

Yeah like for like the parts likely aren't more expensive, it's simply a case of being premium goods...like Brembo at my BMW dealer isn't any more expensive than anywhere else it's just expensive period.

But it's the labour they nail you on, not just in base cost but also excess time for simple jobs.

That being said the cheaper stuff doesn't last as long, but unlikely to make price sense even factoring that in.
 
The secret of having brakes last, is to respect the bedding-in procedure.
 
isnt it on Mercs you have to change BOTH pads and Discs together, else just changing pads will make the Brakes squeal like mad,
as they purposfully made the pads smaller than the Discs to force you to change both.

unlike Toyota /Suzuki/Hyundai ect...

Not on mine. Pads only replaced so far. Disks only getting close to wear point when the 3rd set of pads were due..... (soon, so also following this thread) if it were so, the dealership did not do it nor told me it was necessary, and knowing car dealerships, they would not let a chance to upsell go wasted.

Never had that issue.

so Merc and BMW and other premium manufacturers make it so you MUST change both otherwise the ridge made from the fact the pads dont cover the disc fully will squeal like mad.

bad design I guess, like how those cars begin to self destruct after 100k or 200K, and why they are ridiculously cheap used.

As long as the braking surface is clean and level you shouldn't have issues. If it's a relatively new disc, get it skimmed then replace brakepads.

I've always done those together - skim and pads or new disc and pads.

It may well be that the German manufacturers have that sort of policy in place in Europe and America, but that would be to safeguard themselves against litigation. Definitely doesn't apply in SA.

This would be applicable if you abused your dics by not replacing the pads before they have metal on metal.
