Surge Protection plugs

I see Ellies has a Medium surge protection multiplug as well as a High surge protection multiplug.
Which one is recommended for SA's loadshedding and unexpected blackouts or power surges?
I just lost an aircon to a power surge
 
Medium should work fine. But if memory serves me correctly the high surge doesn't cost that much more, and that's the insurance approved one so rather go for high surge protection.
 
I actually went through the same dilemma just the other day.
I ended up buying 2 Surge secure power protectors, into which I am plugging my normal multi plugs.
Works well and was cheaper than buying the multi plug options. (I say cheaper, but I used my dischem voucher so it was a no brainer.)
These were R199.95 each.

Yes I did think of doing this also but the plug sits up against my bed headboard and this surge plug is rather thick so my bed would be far from the wall

i have 3 of those, been running them for over 6yrs now, all good so far :thumbsup:

Not sure of the cost as my landlord recently installed one for me. It will probably work out cheaper than paying for individual plugs.

home insurance companies should just install these things in homes and get it over and done with
will work out cheaper for them
my bud got hit in December and it blew his fridge
they paid out R10k
 
Is it safe to use a travel adapter with an ellies surge protector?
 
I buy the onw with the red wonder plug that comes with insurance cover. quality is not grand and buttins tend to break but never had an issue with surges.
