So 3 weeks ago I had gallbladder removal and one of my surgical incisions is open. I could post a picture but I don't want to disgust anyone who is sensitive. If anyone has had a wound open can you please advise on how I can make it close faster.

Superglue. Seriously though the wound surely should have been closed during the surgery? Have you consulted a doctor?

Consult your Doc first, don't risk your chances with an infection :)

They are sometimes left like that deliberately so that they can weep and dry out. Are you keeping it clean with gauze over?

The other wounds are covered by scabs and are healing properly. But today I noticed that with this particular wound the scab fell off and the wound has opened. I'll call my doctor tomorrow and tell him...

Use superglue then go to the doctor, otherwise you can get a thickish rod and make a micro furnace. Get it to white hot and cauterize the wound :)

The best thing you can do ^ and do not delay it. Infection is a whole lot easier into open wounds and result in a lot things that will make your life living hell. Septicemia is one of the extremes from this, but it happens.

Yip, these things can escalate literally overnight, some pretty drug resistant microbes out there these days, I would take it seriously.

Still alive and kicking. Doctor said I shouldn't freak out and I shouldn't cover the wound. So it'll close by itself I should just make sure I clean it.

Sounds like a government hospital doctor to me.

Just keep your hands clean, even if its an area you might not come into contact often with. Rather err on the side of caution with these things :)

Keep it closed. It will heal in its own time.
I had 3 major operations a few months ago and my scars are still healing. I have a cut from my chest right down to just above the penis.

Also make sure the bandage or what ever is covering it is wet. It speeds it nicely up the healing process.

Lol you said penis...
Thanks for the reassurance...I just took a look at it and a scab formed which has closed up the wound
