Yup, an actual +1 to Telkom for helping me out over the weekend!

So on Sunday morning my download speed was sitting at 4mbs, on a 10mbs line. After trying 3 different ADSL accounts, I ventured into using Afrihost's 'Magically fix my line' tool on their Clientzone website. After timing out, I had zero connection. Trying the same thing on my cellphone didn't help either - my line synced at 0kbs. So I called Afrihost, and they told me my line is broken and they have to log a fault with Telkom. I was a bit annoyed, why is my line 'broken' now, after I use their 'Fix my line' tool???

Regardless, an hour later a guy from Telkom knocked on my door... 14h00 on a Sunday! Checked a few things out on my line, then went over to the exchange to fix the problem there. It wasn't an hour later and everything was working perfectly. One swallow doesn't mean it's summer, but was definitely surprisingly good service.

one of the few positives out of a 1000 complaints, it was probably just your lucky day

Had the same thing happen several times in the last couple of years. In fact, I've never had poor service from Telkom - more than ten years a customer.

Well all I can say is that you are a lucky lad. My adsl went down (dead) voice still works on Thursday night. I'm still waiting for telkom to say anything other than a SMS stating it with our technical department. Although I must say this is the first time in a long run with telkom that I am having such crap service. They normally sort things out in two to three days.

Want to back up the 1000s?

This happens much more often than you may realise but not everybody announces it on a social media platform.

Lol, you know for a fact that for every 1000 there's 10000 unhappy customers as well though.

ive also had good service from Telkom. you get the occasional :wtf: but definitely greater positive. even the call center.

Used to absolutely despise Telkom. Had horrible experiences with then back in the naughties and they always took weeks to sort anything if at all.

In recent times though I really have been pleasantly surprised. On three occasions my office went down and a telkom techie was there within hours and the problem sorted in the same day. I've also had surprisingly prompt and helpful service from their support desks of late.

I still rate Afrihosts customer sevice as a cut above but Telkom are no longer that embaressingly awful.

Woah, you are indeed brave posting that here - no doubt there'll be myBBers whom will disagree with you! FWIW my many Telkom experiences have been consistently good, at worse okay-ish. Telkom manages my DSL line, and I do use my landline for voice as well. No complaints.
