Survival games

Now, this I like :)

How's the Forest? Anyone played it? Or should I just go with DayZ? Never played DayZ but it doesn't have building...bleh.

DayZ Epoch! has buildings and stuff. There's a few others as well.

However, not the standalone release of Dayz, the Arma2 Mod + other mods.
You may be lucky and find some South African servers online for these.

There's a game finder app that you can use to manage the downloads required for them as well. I'll try and find the name for it...

Rim world is amazing.. in my opinion it needs an award. Dont let the top down blocky style graphics deter you, try get into the mechanics and create a colony.. its epic, and quite difficult. It will suck your time away.

Stardew Valley - some people really enjoy it. I played it for a bit then got bored of the monotony of it. Rather go with Rimworld.

Factorio - Not really a survival game, but requires you to setup a factory, top down style, with tons of mechanics and logic and mods. Mine raw resources, process them, refine them, setup production lines... its incredibly addictive, and if you are at all logically minded, and enjoy setting up processes/systems then this will hook you.

Osiris New Dawn - Sorta get in and out of this game. Play it, wait for a patch, then play it again. But I have to say, its a pretty good game already. Needs work still, but its definitely something to check out and keep an eye on.

Astroneer - Fun for a few hours, then youve pretty much done everything. They need to add objectives and reasons to actually setup on other planets. However, the gameplay is really good, runs well, looks great.

Planet Nomads - not out yet, but keep an eye on this, going to be really good I think.

Life in a bunker - ya, sorta nice idea, but gets boring quickly.

Subnautica - Single player only, but really cool. I enjoyed it right until I ran out of content. Havent played for a few updates, waiting for more content then will do it again. Surprisingly a really decent game and I had my doubts initially.

oh yes, Minecraft has several mods through the Curse Launcher that are well worth the play through if you like Minecraft at all.
- Crash Landing : one of my favorites of all time. Right out of the gates you have to rush to secure your area, start making water (it never rains) and growing different type of foods (eating the same food = diminishing returns). Heat depletes your water quickly, overheating or freezing kills you. Cannot respawn without a respawn chamber that takes time to regenerate and a lot of energy.
- Agrarian skies : Skyblock survival and then mass production to finish various quests using a variety of very creative mods to accomplish goals
- Sky block 2.5 and 3 : Similar to above
- Feed The Beast : very old version of minecraft but the original map that created skyblock gameplay

If you get a server setup you can play any of the above with friends.

I was playing Rust again and dono, it's not what it was in Legacy.

Anyway, I'm looking for a survival type game again. Must include building, farming for mats, food and the likes with elements of danger in it. Single player or Multiplayer no preference. Any good suggestions of newish type games with this type of theme?

Look under my profile on Steam. I have a few. Empyrion - Galactic Survival, Ark off the top of my heed, Forest.

If you want, I can PM my login just let me know when you are logging in and I will stay off.

The forest is fun. Survival is hard.

Dayz is not for me. Too much running. In fact i would rather call it a running simulator than a survival game

+1 for Rimworld as well.

Give it a try, play an hour or two and you will be hooked.

+1 for Subnautica - Had alot of fun playing this ages ago. I've been tempted to pick it up again soon.

Running to the next town where you know there's a shop takes quite a bit of work. Especially as food and water are scarce resources.
You're hoping to find some good loot and instead your past 45mins run avoiding zombies and other players results in a Mokarov (no bullets), a bicycle and an MRM pack. Use the bicycle to get to the town just south of the airport, find something to drink and eat. Get into barracks and get swarmed by the local undead. The AK47 you just picked up is low on ammo because of the Zeds and you hear a vehicle pull up...

The time you take to build yourself up is your investment in the game, what you lose when you need to start again.
