Durban - A man who, with his accomplice, attempted to rob a another man in Durban’s Cato Manor area was shot dead by his intended victim on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that two armed men had accosted another man walking along Bellair Road.

At gunpoint the suspect forced the lone man to lie face down on the pavement, but at that moment, their intended victim produced his weapon and shot one of his attackers twice in the head.

The other attacker fled the scene and police were called.

Police were called and the mortally wounded attacker was declared dead at the scene by paramedics from KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial Emergency Medical Service.

Zwane said an inquest docket had been opened and that police were looking for the second attacker.

good for him but sorry he has to live with that for the rest of his life as it shouldn't be necessary but hey this is SA and your life is worth nada.

I know it's easy to say but I think many of us have reached the point where we would sleep like babies should we be faced with this reality.

Why is he called a suspect if we know he intended to do the crime? "Criminal shot dead by his victim"

They already said the guy doing the shooting was a victim of an attempted robbery by the suspect. People who commit attempted robbery are usually known as criminals, or Jacob Zuma.
