Suspected ransomware attack on Boeing

Boeing Co. confirmed it is dealing with a “cyber incident” that targeted elements of the parts and distribution business run by its global services division.

Flight safety isn’t affected, Boeing said in an emailed statement Wednesday, adding, “We are actively investigating the incident and coordinating with law enforcement and regulatory authorities.”

Probably relied on some big name Silly Valley security stack that has a Magic Quadrant Sievewall and some Unlucky Threat Mitigation hocus pocus. Magic of course but in reality a decades old fork of a vintage version of Linux that has been powder coated to hide the rust and decay.

What did they expect if they continue manufacturing and funding endless wars across the globe...
This is simply digital retaliation and it's going to get much worse - imagine an aircraft full of passengers being hacked during a flight? The US will never learn..

Boeing are trying to move the newer designs away from having to make aircraft, rather doing the final assembly of parts supplied by other companies. This means that they have 11 000 suppliers that they deal with to procure one billion parts per year. A lot of suppliers also have their own companies that they deal with. This complex system provides a massive attack surface where vulnerabilities can be found and exploited.
