I just got suspended tonight on suspicion of online trading.

I've never done anything of the sort in all my three years of playing the game, I'm pretty shocked.

I make use of two proxy programs - Yourfreedom and Gamemax

Gamemax is the one I used today, and the one I mostly use. Has anyone had something similar happen to them?

Greetings,

We are writing to inform you that, unfortunately, we have had to temporarily suspend your World of Warcraft account and place a final warning on it.

Account Name: *******
Type of Violation: Involvement in online trading activities
Investigation Concluded: 10/06/2009
Consequences for Account: Account suspended for 72 hours, Password Reset and Final Warning issued.

It is with regret that we take this type of action, but it is in the best interests of the World of Warcraft community as a whole, and for the integrity of the game. After your suspension has expired, you will be able to access the World of Warcraft servers again.

Please note that should any further violations of our Rules and Policies occur, this will almost certainly lead to the permanent closure of your account.

Online trading refers to the exchange of in-game content for real world money, and includes, but is not limited to, the sale or purchase of gold, the sale or purchase of experience in the form of powerlevelling, and the sale or purchase of honor points, reputation or items.

Account access is the responsibility of the account owner and account sharing is against our Terms of Use (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/legal/termsofuse.html). Therefore, should you believe someone other than yourself (the account owner) has committed this violation of the Terms of Use with your account, these sanctions would still apply, as our action is taken against the account, not the individual.

To protect the account’s security, we have also reset your password and issued you with a computer generated one, which you will receive in a separate e-mail. You will be able to change this password at your leisure, using the Account Management feature on our web site, located at: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/

Your password will be sent from [email protected]. If you do not receive it after one hour, please add this address to your email address list so that it is not rejected by any spam filter you are using, and reply to [email protected] informing us that you have not received the password.

Please do not disclose your new password to anyone, including Blizzard staff, or change it back to one of your previous passwords as this could result in your account becoming compromised.

As a precautionary measure we have also removed your recurring subscription details from the account; if you wish to continue your subscription you will need contact our billing department, via our webform: http://www.wow-europe.com/support/webform/billingDefault.html?lan=en or by phone http://www.wow-europe.com/en/support/accountbilling.html

We strongly suggest you review our current Rules and Policies to avoid further action in the future, they can be found at:
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/policy/

Regards,

Account Administration Team
Blizzard Entertainment Europe

I don't see how. I was in the game and got disconnected.

My first thought was also that I got hacked, but then I received the email from Blizzard.

After logging in with my temp password (using google to get to the wow site, not the link) I could see the suspension there as well:

his account has been temporarily suspended from accessing World of Warcraft. Please note, if your account is under Final Review the duration below is subject to change (up to permanent).

Duration: 72 Hours

An email has been sent to the registered address on the account with the reason for this suspension or review. If you would like to appeal this decision or did not receive the message please contact our Account Administration team via our webform.

Wtf is going on? I just sent an email to Blizz asking if they can explain more..

o_O

Well, they will need to prove it. They can't just suspend you on suspicion alone!

I had the same thing about two weeks ago.
I sent a friend of mine some gold to help him buy his epic flying and the next thing I know I was perma-banned for gold selling.
I replied to the mail and two days later I received a mail confirming that I was unbanned.
However even though you are able to log in after that you need to contact payments and billing to get that sorted out as they close it when your account is closed, been fighting for 2 weeks to get it sorted so GL.

What you could do is wait out the 72 hour suspension and then try and immediately talk to a GM in game. they normally are very helpful in these circumstances. I had a similar problem when I first used gamemax after moving back here from the UK, and after some explaining, the warning was removed and I've never heard from them again.

What they see is 2 glaringly different IP addresses from using the 2 different proxies and it's no wonder they think something is on the sly. Just explain to them that they are tunnel proxies and all should be forgiven

1g plz :)

Mail to me before you loose your account. You know, put it to good use :P

GL and let us know what the outcome is

Thanx for the replies guys.

I dont give others gold, I don't solicit powerleveling. I mean, I'm just a casual WoWer ffs :<

But if its the proxy they don't like, what is the solution? Stop using proxies and go back to 500ms latency?

What do other proxy users do?

This have happened to before and just yesterday it happened again.

The first time they withdrew their claim and i am currently trying to sort it out again.

I use gamemax to improve my latency, could it be that they have a problem with gamemax?

I any case i have demanded that they refund me on the days they robbed me, which i payed for.

I hope it works and i will try every thing to make them give it back to me, even though its just to get them to thoroughly check their facts before they accuse people of doing things they didn't.

heh, wellcome mr Arghen

you will find the wow section rife with wow scumm and villany, you should be catious :D

I just sent them a plain email explaining my situation, but now I see there is a whole web form with ID and CD key crap that you must fill in.

I need to now go rummage for my original box and take a photo of my ID before I email them again.

Its pretty shocking that they just yank you from the game so rudely even if you are completely innocent.

72 hour ban for using a proxy? That is absurd.

Unless they think I'm being powerleveled, as I did take a ret pala from lev 24 (where he has been for months) to 36 in three days. But I mean, RET is OP right now lol :P

I have leveled quite a few chars, I know the quests, I used quest mods - if Blizzard is going to start suspending people for leveling faster than normal we are in for a bumpy ride :o

first rule about bein banned is you dont talk about bein banned...
