A compelling argument can be made for the Frenchies at that kind of price point. We're still very happy with our HDi Picasso but I'm a big proponent of looking after my cars as well as I can, so we've not really had to test aftersales beyond routine maintenance. But it's frugal, safe, quick enough and just about immune to theft and hijacking.

Look for N/A(not turbo charged) Forrie. They go on forever. Cheap to maintain as well.

I have driven a N/A with over 750 000km on the clock. Engine was perfect.

You may have to revise your model choice or your budget.

I recently bought a 2005 Volvo XC70 2.5T Auto with 74 000km on the clock for R110k.

Granted, it is not a cheap car to run, but the amount of car for the money is just astonishing. If comfort and gliding along oblivious of your surroundings is your thing, see if you can find one of these.
