Noticed over the past few days that at random times I get an svchost.exe Application error as below:
http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php/photo/8675/size/big/cat/500

The error happens at totally random times whether I am idle/afk or actively browsing. If I do not click the X, Ok or Cancel button and leave the modal dialog I can continue to browse and send/receive data just fine. Otherwise as soon as I click to close it my internet connection instantly becomes dead and I disconnect from various servers. I use Neotel and the dialup connection shows as active but obviously am not able to get a ping reply or send/receive any data.
I of course have to reboot and hope the error doesn't happen any time soon, sometimes I go a whole day without the error others a few time's in a row after each boot up. I have not installed any new software recently so not sure what would have caused this.

I use Windows XP Pro
Use Avira as my antivirus
Use Zonealarm Pro as my firewall (have deactivated and random error still occurs)
Use Spybot S&D and RegscrubXP to do the occassional scans.

Does anyone have experience with this error or any advice on how to fix it please ?

PS: As I was typing this out the error occured again and had to reboot and re-write in order to submit this thread.

right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Performance 'settings'>Advanced>Virtual Memory> Change ...

"System managed size" <--- suggest that

I've known that to change with updates/installs.

Run 'Registry Mechanic' or something to repair registry, if that doesn't work .. install "Debugging Tools for Windows" free Microsoft program .. open it .. on menu .. 'Open Crash Dump' point to C:\WINDOWS\Minidump -- open last crash dump file and see what's causing it

Uninstall whatever is conflicting :)

Good luck

Thanx a mill gpe
you were right System managed size was set as something else, set it back so system manages it and haven't had any issues yet.
Thank you very much.

Time to turn automatic windows updates off then.
