Hi Guys.

Currently our extraview is set up so that the HD-PVR is primary, and the standard decoder is secondary.
How can I swap it around so that the standard decoder is primary, and HD PVR is secondary?

Regards

Itai

You don't need make any changes to your installation. All you need to do is phone the multichoice call centre and ask them to swap the decoders around. If they have trouble doing it for you then ask to speak to a supervisor.

Cool, thanks.

Reason is HD is in my room, and standard in the lounge, and sometimes the one in the lounge says no heartbeat

Just remember that if the HDPVR is the secondary & it loses its heartbeat it will effect recordings
If I was you I would rather check the installation before swopping over. You need 60 failed heartbeat signals in a row to get that message so something is wrong with your cabling or connections

put the HD in the lounge and th standard in your room
or both in the lounge and use a remote blaster or tv link so everybody has acess to all the features and no prblmes

My parents didn't want the HD-PVR ... I bought it for myself cause in honours I don't have time to watch tv when I want, so I have to record shows. I bought it with my own cash :P

damn parents dont know what they missing :)
check the cable from you HD to the standard maybe something wrong there, (wire cut or twisted inside somewhere) thats why its loing heart beat.

We using the old aerial cable that runs through the walls for the heartbeat. It works most of the time, but occasionally it gives an issue, then switch my decoder off and on at the power, and works fine again.

Easier said then done. My stepdad won't foot the bill and it'll be expensive cause in the walls

DIY JOB
go to Makro or anywhere buy a good lenth of cable (50 to 100M depending on distance), connect the old cable in you room to the new cable then go to lounge and pull wire like your life depended on it :) and hey presto cable replaced as long as no gunk stuck in the wall thats jamming up the cable.

That HD-PVR is seriously heat sensitive, If you have anything else on it or under it you can get that exact problem. I had the same thing, pulled my hair out trying to change cables etc. At the end of the day I moved my HD-PVR to a nice cool spot away from anything else. It has not "missed a beat" since!
