As the title states please let me know if you guys are having issues. Logged a call to Telkom 06.07.2014. I call in yesterday and they tell me the call is closed and that it was resolved. Still getting huge pings and slow downloads. I have done the various test to pinpoint that the fault is with Telkom.

Cheers guys.

I'm also with you in the same boat dude. I'm also located in Mitchells Plain.
Since last week getting high pings and slow download speeds. During the day it's fine, my family can still watch Netflix. But come the evening when I'm home, then everything is borked. Pings in the 500ms and speeds of 0.5mbps on a 4mb line.
Reported the fault to Telkom. They send me an SMS everyday telling me they're attending to the problem. No joy so far.:(

Where in Mp buddy? I thought I'm the only one lol. I logged a call July already bro but i got hold of the guys at the depot awaiting feedback.

Anyone else from (Mitchells Plain/Westridge) having issues?

I e-mailed ICASA... this is the reply they sent me.

Proposed Resolution:
CONSUMER COMPLAINT REF: Grant Hiebner - WCP1608/14
Reference is made to the above mentioned matter.
Our investigation revealed that the customer's Dslam is congested and a migration to the Metro Ethernet site is planned. The expected completion date is 10 November 2014.

I reported the issue on the 06.07.2014. Seriously NOVEMBER!

Well done to ICASA & Telkom here. You ARE getting a confirmed upgrade and i think the resolution time is very generous especially with a migration to ME. I have to date not seen [stand to be corrected] recently anyone who sent a complaint to ICASA and got such a beautiful reply [i say that because did it not bring a smile to your face?] :).

Am sure you grateful for them upgrading but honestly now, you cannot expect them to do this quicker than the date mentioned?

I applaud you to sending a request and helping others who have not voiced their concern in your area [again stand to be corrected :p] ^_^.

Thank you for the reply lol. Well it did bring a grin to my face haha ha. Well this was reported last year already REF: 136BWK251113. I just want to see if I'm the only one waiting here. The thing is I have a buddy very close to where I stay and he is not having issues at all. I have done the various tests and its definitely congestion. I have only had one gut that's on the same exchange reply to this thread. Surely if they are doing upgrades I should not be the only one affected?

:) Yeah i agree but we don't know enough about what goes on with other customers to say they aren't having issues :). You definitely did them a service by getting things going. Last year shows how much you been trying and thats great.

Lets hope some of the other folks in the area reply here and bring more smiles to their faces. Christmas at MP will be at home this year while the downloads chug along [unless you remote into your box] :D.

LMAO TBH I get most of my stuff at work. Its the fact that I cant play BF4 :( my wife has been so happy over the past few months!

Hey Grant I've had the exact same problem .

It's actually been congested since June the 5th which is when I logged my first fault Telkom promptly closed my open ticket after 5 days stating the fault had been resolved LOL.

I then phoned again in the begining of July to complain once again had pings of 1200 ms to 8.8.8.8 and under 0.18mbps on speedtest for a 2mb line .

They then admitted to a congested exchange and that it would take sometime to be sorted out.

It's now 5 months later and they still haven't gotten any answers as to an ETA for the repair I wouldn't trust in tha ICASA mail you recieved they just send BS like that out to shut us up for a while .

Another thing is that even though the exchange is congested these pricks continue to still add more people to the exchange making things even worse I helped 2 people do self installs in the 021 391 area in the last week alone .

So not only are they selling a below par service as per Telkom's service level agreement but they actually compounding the problem by adding more users to an already saturated exchange .

This seems like stupidity to me but then again Telkom never really comes across as being in the best of mental states .

Another thing though is that you should be able to request a rebate on your ADSL service as you are receiving below 70 % of the subscribed line.

This alone a long winded process I've made 5 calls my self in under 2 weeks and the poephols that process the accounts rebate requests are either retarded, stupid or just plain ignorant.

So goodluck with that process I got a whole R91.00 for 5 months of ****ty line speeds and near unusable internet.

I think that service affecting situations like this that lead to such extensive periods of poor service should be addressed by Telkom ASAP.

I mean this exchange is handeling how many people all of which might not know the difference between good, decent and bad ADSL I believe everyone on this exchange should be receiving a rebate from the start period of the problem affecting the exchange .

But Telkom is gladly taking people's hard earned money and offering **** in return with a smile on their faces and even then not informing their clientele that there is a problem.

I think its disgusting and my one option was to go the Voice or the Son and let them inform the public of the shoddy service peope in MP get from Telkom .

If this was Rondebosch,Green Point,Clifton,Panorama or Mekbos then it wouldn't have taken five months to fix I guarantee it .

But because it's MP voetsek they can wait isn't our money the same as those rich areas Telkom ?

Just Gatvol of no answers *** service and dom people tryin to BS me out of my money for a service I wouldn't give away for free.

Ok just a headsup as per the mail you got Grant ECASA stated the problem would be resolved by the 10/11/14 .

But my line is still unusable during the day over 600ms to 8.8.8.8 and at night like last night pings on tracert to 8.8.8.8 come back over 250ms .

So this is just bull .

Congested Exchange in Westridge (Swartklip) Closed

I've just spoken to tech support at 10210 and they state the problem is resolved even though it's not.

Line speed has increased definately but pings are still super high over 300-400 ms to 8.8.8.8 or to capetown.spdtst.saix.net.

Now this shouldn't be the case it seems to me they've increased bandwidth on the trunk to support the speeds needed but have done nothing to compensate for the pings eg: saturation of the DSLAM.

I might be speaking potatoe with the above statement my level of DSLAM knowledge is limited to almost zero.

So once again does this mean that we wait for another 6 months to get this resolved as I'm sure there are many online gamers in MP currently clenching their fists and grinding their teeth as we all know how detrimental ping is to online play.

I hope this gets sorted out as I'm geniunely tired of this crap and also tired of my wasted hours spent on phonecalls and emails and just sitting in front of a PC checking pings and speedtests .

Ok now ping is average over 600ms and line speeds are just over 1.05mbps wtf is this supposed to mean fixed .

Fault is closed and resolved as per 10210 just spent another 55mins waiting to log a fault idiot on the other side says nothing can be done until a technician can be assigned to check the problem.

I waited 6 months for a technician to be a assigned dammit.

Also it's not just me Venom7 showed me his speedtest results from last night also buggered.

Hi guys. It is fantastic to find fellow 'Plainers here. I'm in Westridge and this has been an ongoing battle for me as well. At this point in time I'm actually thinking that it may be a good idea for a few of us to nominate a not for profit organisation like a school or church and donate a 10MB line to them if they are close enough to the exchange and if they can get the higher speeds, then to install a WiFi connection to them. There doesn't seem to be any other way.
