Hey all.

So at one stage I wanted to import sweets/candy from China. Shipping fee for 350kg is R23000, then I still had to pay for product, customs, tax etc etc.

I decided to try it at home. Worked well to the point after cooking it, pouring into a pan and doing with it what I needed to do. Left it outside to stall for 2 hours, but it was still a tad too sticky and tacky. What kind of solution should I implement? Maybe refrigerate for a while -or- cook longer -or- cook less.

It obviously has sugar in and needs to get to a point where it is not as hard as jelly babies, but not sticky or tacky. BUT somewhat pliable in hand.

Its got sugar and xanthan gum in it.

Thanks
Anton

You need a coating of some sort. And it's "set" in English, not "stall" :P

No, I prefer sea. Air is expensive in my experience...

Oh hang on.... their exact words were

Each carton: 0.0154CBM x 140cartons = 2.2CBM
Okay so EVERYTHING together is 2.2cbm
Say max 2.3cbm

and 350kg +/-

Have you tried Seven seas shipping? Not sure if they have offices there, but their Move Cube service would work. Would take about 100 odd days to arrive, but a small box would work for you, priced at around R9.5k This is what I paid to ship this cube from Cape Town to Aukland New Zealand. It takes up to 1250kg.
