Hi guys, need some help/info on what I assume to be the overflow pipe?

As per the pic, that overflow section where the whit pipe is sticking out kept on filling up with water and I couldnt see where the hell it was coming from. (I am trying to keep that litle section dry as all the crap blows in there and is a mission to clean.)
After I took out that blank mcgafter I then noticed that the water trickles out. The black mcgafter served no purpose as firstly it didnt really fit into the pipe so it was just coming out the sides and since the water came out so slowly, I dont think it would even get through to the top of the black mcgafter.

My first question is if that is indeed the overflow pipe, is it ok to channel it back into the pool?

Is this a good idea?

The idea is to silicone the mcgafter to the pipe, and allow this overflow to run directly back into the pool.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

By "overflow" I assume you mean the pipe from the pump when using the "backwash, waste or rinse" options?

Looks like they were using that extension as a coupler for an irrigation system... to use that water on the gardens, etc.

.

No, that overflow pipe is fine. For some reason, this extra 'overflow' outlet as per the pic was coupled so that water could fill up in that small section. Problem is I don't know why water would be coming out of this pipe when the pump is on.

Sadly, I can't say as its under the paving. I can only assume its coming from the pump as water will only trickle out of it when the pump is on
